Varner is no joke, he always comes to make it a fight. I always said Barbosa was getting an easy route to a title shot, with them only pairing him with strikers. I knew Varner had a big chance to upset him but I never thought he'd get a tko. That was awesome, ppl were riding Barbosa too hard already and he hadn't even faced a wrestler.

I see Varner hurting him, taking him down, and submitting him. Melvin has been outclassed on the feet by damn near everyone he's lost to. It's not gonna change now.
The Lauzon and Miller fights he came out like a complete jackass, just not respecting his opponents striking. I think it will be an awesome fight regardless of who wins but I'm leaning more towards Garner after his upset over Barbosa I'm a fan for life.

You can either interpret this as he's settling for "gatekeeper" status or that he's learning to focus on just winning the fight in front of him. The good news for him is that he's exciting and a draw in the LW division. That's something only a handful of guys can claim. I can easily see him getting a call to fight Eddie Alverez WHEN Alverez makes his UFC debut....and I can see him getting the KO on Alverez, no if they give him Gilbert Melendez, I honestly don't know if he can win that fight. Cause Melendez won't stand and trade with him, but if he does pull of the upset, it's not inconceivable that he can't leapfrog to the #1 contender spot. Henderson vs Guillard is a very sellable fight, the problem would be putting Guillard on a path to "somewhat" justify making it....of course that's never really stopped Dana before...so.....

I think fans can afford to write off Guillard, but fighters know better.....so I tend to listen a bit more to them...
