| Junior Dos Santos Remembers His Fight With Roy Nelson Junior Dos Santos Remembers His Fight With Roy Nelson - FightLine.com Quote:
When Junior dos Santos (15-1) and Roy Nelson (17-7) collided in 2010, the current heavyweight champion remembers thinking how it was impossible to knock Nelson out. Quote: |
"I gave a good uppercut on him and then he comes back and I started to think, 'here the fat boy comes again, why won't he stay down," said dos Santos to MMA Fighting. "That stuck in my mind and after I won, I was like, 'phew.'"
| Dos Santos, who wanted the knockout victory, had to settle with a decision win. Two fights later and he would become the heavyweight champion. Dos Santos gave Nelson credit and doesn't think that people take him seriously enough. Quote: |
"People who know MMA know Roy is a serious fighter, but people don't think like that," said dos Santos. "I started to get worried."
| Nelson returns tonight on the finale of the current season of The Ultimate Fighter to face fellow TUF 10 contestant Matt Mitrione (5-1) in the main event.
Dos Santos will look for his second title defense later this month against Cain Velasquez (10-1).

I got Matt winning this fight but anyone who thinks it'll be by stoppage is simply fuckin sad.

Really? I think Roy will grapplefuck Matt, unless Matt's ground game has improved dramatically.

I think Matt has the size and reach to keep Roy off him. It's not like Roy has overwhelming TD's.

I have Roy winning by early sub or Moon belly crucifix tko.
We all want to see a standup fight... Both guys have big power with granite chins, but I think Roy looks to use his BJJ in this fight...
If it does stay standing, people are overlooking Matt in that aspect.

Interesting to see so many people picking Matt to win this fight. His last fight was in October 2011 where he dropped a decision to Cheick Kongo and he is taking this fight on short notice. I think Roy finishes him by the end of wound 3, maybe an over hand right on the second round.

This a 5 rounder?? if it makes it past 3 we could witness the saddest rounds ever seen.

i remember watching their fight. roy would eat ten shots, and throw that overhand right, rinse and repeat. he packs so much power, you can tell his opponents get uneasy continually going after him. you could see it on junior's face. good to see him giving roy credit.
