Personally I take more pride in picking the bigger fights correctly though I understand if you don't like the idea and if you feel like "it ain't broke don't fix it". |
I think most people have more invested in the marquee fights, because we're more familiar with the fighters; and more invested in their personas/careers.
That said, I'm not really inclined to change up the value of picks based on their situation on a card; I'm more partial to keep it standardized.
I'm not sure awarding more points to everybody is going to really change anything significantly, it'll just make for bigger scores in general. Most people score fairly close together on main card picks, because most people have an idea of how styles will play out.
It's actually the lesser known fights where the differences in picks and scores are found. Personally, I think there should be some reward for MMAFandom and knowledge. So I believe weighing all fights evenly is the way to go.
The only thing I noticed, was how abysmal people did in picking OTN bonuses; there were quite a few cards where nobody even got one right. I thought those ought to be worth a few more points; maybe 5 or 6, instead of 4. It's harder picking OTN's than decision wins.
I'm also not opposed to a Fedorlei points cap if there's a consensus that it's a good idea... Maybe cap him at 15 points per event or something...
