| Frankie Edgar Expects José Aldo Fight To Be A Long One Frankie Edgar Expects José Aldo Fight To Be A Long One - FightLine.com Quote:
Leading up to their featherweight championship fight, José Aldo (21-1) and Frankie Edgar (14-3-1) will be doing video blogs. Aldo said in one of his early ones that he expects to finish Edgar quickly. In Edgar's first video blog for his upcoming UFC 156 showdown, he thinks that Aldo will be in for a long fight. Quote: |
"I'm hearing he's doing some video blogs saying I'm not going to be making it out of the first or second round," said Edgar. "Homeboys got something coming as I'm feeling good and ready to go."
| The pair was supposed to meet at UFC 153, but that fight was scratched when Aldo injured himself in a motorcycle accident about a month out. The fight would have been Edgar's debut as a featherweight, after he dropped his lightweight title to Benson Henderson (17-2) and the rematch that followed in 2012.
Aldo vs. Edgar is now set to headline UFC 156 from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV. The card takes place February 2.

I feel if anyone is gonna beat Aldo in MMA it's gonna be Edgar. Be nice to see this happen but either way there will be some good fights for both at FW.

If Edgar was fighting anybody else at FW id be pretty confident hed win, As i still think hes the top 2-3 LW in the world. But being a huge Edgar fan, this fight with Aldo has me worried as fuck. If Edgar losses, and Aldo stays champ, where does Frankie go from there?
Theres a reason that Aldo is one of the P4P best fighters. 14 fight win streak, finishing 8 of those fights, against 7-8 top10 guys is pretty damn impressive.
Im hoping for a late TKO stoppage from Frankie somewheres in the "championship rounds", but I got a bad feeling Aldo destroys Edgar and then Edgar is left in limbo.
Again, this is coming from a big Edgar fan, its just too hard to ignore how incrediably(sp?) good Aldo is. This will be the first fight of Edgars since Sean Sherk that I wont bet on.

Sounds like Aldo is underestimating Frankie which is a mistake.

The longer it goes, the more it favors Edgar... Unless Aldo really puts a beating on Frankie's legs to the point where it hinders him...
Frankie has legit hands, but often finds success due to his speed... Aldo has a quickness few fighters have. He may surprise Edgar... Frankie also showed in the Bendo fight, that you can cut off his movement with kicks... Im sure he has adjusted but Aldo is a different beast, not as powerful as Ben, but WAY faster.
While Aldo does have elite TDD, that is where I see Frankie looking to exploit. Frankie is very fast himself, sets up his takedowns well with his transitions.
Im sure Frankie could find his rhythm standing and get some in and out shots on Aldo, but that may be too dangerous of a strategy... playing with fire...
Im taking Aldo by TKO... but Frankie could easily pull it off...
Open to bets.

aldo's killer instinct makes me fear for frankie's safety ive grown to like the answer very much once the bj fights were in the rearview, i'll be rooting for edgar but aldo is such an animal if he knocks down edgar he wont fail to finish him off like maynard did
