Exactly, which is why I don't know why Dana mentioned anything about Melvin's fighting strategy. He's lost just as much by coming forward too aggressively as he has by standing back and fighting cautiously. He's got holes in his game either way. When he doesn't come forward and get tagged, he can just as easily get put on his back where he can be pretty vulnerable.

Dana acts like he's pretty smart but sometimes I really don't think he knows what he's talking about that much...lol

When Melvin moves forward though chances of a exciting fight are great. Thats what DW cares about any buddy who gets people to watch/ make $$ for Dana he'll keep on the payroll.

Best post.
Melvin usually ends up beating himself by fighting stupid but still he is entertaining to watch. I put him in the same boat as Leben.

If Dana can keep Leben surely he can keep Guillard. I believe DW is just talking shit now that he has acquired all this talent from SF.

It looks like the Young Assassin just became expendable.

jesus the way everyone talks, I almost wish he was cut to save his dignity....just keep him around? Fuck that. Either he can become a contender or go someone where else. I mean what the fuck? I'd like to see Melvin make a hard decision, and not become like Chris Leben or other tough gatekeepers. The dude's still young and has the tools....

Melvin is exciting and always brings the fight to his opponent. I like watching him. He has made some ill advised decisions, but such is competing. Like RD said he is much like Leben. Always exciting and I root for Melvin. Would love to see both of those guys have a stellar 2013.

"Way too much talent" should never be used to describe melvin guillard. He is a gate keeper at best. I dont think he should be cut, but the ufc should stop these retarded claims that he is a top contender every time he beats 2-3 low tier fighters.

I think you got it backwards, you do realize that athleticism doesn't equal talent or success right? He's had 7 years, since he's entered the ufc, to perfect his game. I think it is accurate to say that he isn't going to get much better at this point. Gsp is a person who has talent and athleticism, guillard is a person with just athleticism, there is a difference.

I dont blame the UFC for selling it, I blame the ignorant unwashed masses for buying the hype.

On a related note, I looked at the reported paydays in the thread for the last ppv, and at 45,000, Guillard is WAY overpriced. Hell, Cain was only guaranteed 100k. Is Melvin worth half of Cain? I think not.

Melivin Was making DW $$$$ way before Cain got to the UFC, and he has had some super exciting fights that people will pay to see.
As posted before he doesn't have the brains to fully use the talent he has.
