| Francis Carmont is Looking to Pick a Fight… with Either Mark Munoz or Yushin Okami Francis Carmont is Looking to Pick a Fight... with Either Mark Munoz or Yushin Okami at UFC 158 | MMAWeekly.com Quote:
Carmont on Saturday made a plea to get a bout with one of the tougher fighters in the division.
“To start 2013, I’ll wish to make a good fight,” wrote Carmont on Facebook. “Give me the opportunity to fight Munoz or Okami at UFC 158 in Montreal.”
Neither is an easy fight.
Munoz is coming off of a loss to Chris Weidman last summer, but had been on a four-fight winning streak – including wins over Chris Leben and Demian Maia – prior to the loss. Had he won that fight, Munoz was rocketing into the picture to challenge UFC middleweight kingpin Anderson Silva.
Okami has his shot at Silva, but got TKO’d in the second round then followed that up with a loss to Tim Boetsch. He has since put together consecutive victories over Buddy Roberts and, most recently, Alan Belcher at UFC 155.
Munoz and Okami both present stifling, wrestling based styles that could present a lot of difficulties for Carmont, but he seems ready to take that next step in the 185-pound division and start fighting Top 10 caliber competition.

Meh, I think he's a win away from that caliber of fight. I would have loved to see him fight Phillipou as a young talent fight. But with his recent win over Boetsch, that seems too much now too.
Leben would be an interesting test, but I think they want to feed Leben a win at this point and Carmont isn't a giveaway.
Maybe Nedkov or McGee?

I thought about Carmont's most recent fight, then envisioned him fighting Okami. I must have immediately nodded off, my girlfriend just woke me up on the couch.

Yeah, he's at least one fight out from getting a top ten/fifteen-ish fighter. That Lawlor fight was ugly & I haven't been supremely impressed by his work too much thus far, aside from his impressive physique.
I say give him either winner or loser of Markes/Craig.

Yeah, after his last loss he definitely doesn't deserve that caliber of opponent. A step back would be beneficial for him. I would like to see him fight Palhares.
EDIT: He WON his last fight?! Man, that's not how I remember it going down.
