"Let's cut the bullshit, let's be honest, they won't give me Anderson Silva. We have to be realistic and talk about things that might happen. I've got to take one fight at a time and one-by-one I can take them out and by the end of the year people are going to say he deserves the title shot. I want it to just be my hard work. I want people to say that no one deserves the title more than him. I just don't want to fight guys that they say, 'Oh that was a easy match-up for him.' I want to fight the hardest match-up. I wish they (the UFC) could go now and make a pool of the toughest guys at 84kg that no one wants to fight and I want to fight that guy. I want to fight who the UFC and the people believe is the toughest guy out there. Not many people want to fight Palhares. Before we had the fight people were saying: 'Hector is gone, Palhares is taking Hector's leg back to Brazil.' I would like to fight Chris Weidman, he's a big name. I've been asking for (Yushin) Okami, I've been asking for Okami but they (UFC) won't give him to me because of his chin. Okami has no chin, he can't cop the punches. And where's Jake Shields? He's been around forever, he beat Dan Henderson. Those are the guys I want to fight.''

Actually Hector, you match up for another easy Anderson win so get a couple more wins under your belt and prepare to be cherry picked.

If he won the fight against Boetsch, he was in line to fight Anderson. Can't complain when you didn't win, Mr. Lombard. Sure it was controversial, but even if Lombard edged him out and won, I don't think Lombard would've gotten the title shot. It was such a poor performance.

I'm quite sure the UFC hype train was fully prepared to get behind Lombard, especially if he beat Boetsch in spectacular fashion. The fact is he lost to Boetsch and it was an awful fight - he cannot really blame anyone but himself for his current predicament. When you're hyped as a legitimate threat to Anderson Silva and you shit the bed as hard as Lombard did UFC 149 you're going to have to work your way up, especially to regain that hype.

Presuming he beats Okami he might get a title shot if the stars align right for him. I guess time will tell.

This should be Chris Weidman's rant, with the exception of the wanting to fight Chris Weidman part.

Not like I’m a huge Hector fan (although that might be changing) but, he demolished Palhares like no one else. That totally redeemed the Boetsch fight in my opinion. And now Hector is slated to face Okami in Japan if I recall correctly. If he blows out Okami like he did Palhares, then one more impressive win against a Sonnen (if he doesn’t retire after Jones) or a Weidman might just open the door to a title shot.
I would be very interested in seeing Lombard Vs. Silva. (although Silva Vs. Weidman would also be awesome too!)

The guy was groomed to get a title shot, all he had to do was win his UFC debut and he lost. Yeah it was "controversial"(imo it wasnt), But exactly like you said even IF he would've won the decision over Boetsch he STILL wouldnt have deserved the title shot...Itd be like giving Nick Di.....Nevermind!
Now thats been said, The images of Lombard absolutley destroying Jake Shields put a smile on my face, But I think he'd have a hard time with Okami personally, And I think Weidman beats him.

I didn't think he was complaining, I think he's just saying what he thinks needs to happen for him to get a title shot. He wants to fight the best. Glad to hear someone say they want to fight the people nobody wants fight.

^^^This, he's saying that he has to fight the toughest guys at 185 before he gets his shot at Anderson. I don't think there are a lot of UFC guys lining up to fight him. If he destroys Okami, there are going to be a lot of "injuries" and missed phone calls should Joe Silva call about fighting Hector Lombard....
