Frank is very game, but I think DC controls where the fight goes at all times and gets the stoppage in the 2nd. Will be interesting to see DC get hit and how he reacts. Lots of good fights for Mir if he loses. Would love to see him vs Bigfoot (if Bigfoot loses).

I really can't believe so many people are counting Frank Mir out.

He beat a sick Nelson which was a good win. He got rocked by Nog on the feet and then pulled off a great come from behind sub. Dos santos well that was just a beating. It comes down to me thinking DC is better than all of those guys (save maybe Junior). DC is top three IMO. I think he shows it against a very game, but outmatched Mir.

I just don't see how Mir can beat Cormier on the feet. When's the last time Mir looked good there? Been a long time...and the fight isn't going to the floor unless DC wants it there imo.

Underestimate Mir? More like underestimating DC. You are looking at the next HW champion here.
When the SF HW tourny was going on I think SF had a stronger HW division then the UFC did. DC really looks like he has the best cardio for top tier HW's too which is unbelievably important. Look how bad Cain looked in rounds 3-5 without taking any damage.

I was wondering how DC got so good, so fast... Segal taught him "secret" takedowns that he invented from years of studying in Japan.

Talking about his standup though. Mir has shown time and time again that he is no joke. Rocking and dropping Kongo, which to my knowledge has only been done three times is not easy. Against guys like Pat Barry, Mark Hunt and then Frank Mir. Two of the heaviest hitters in the game, and then Frank have dropped a great kickboxer.
Destroying Nog, something that only Mir and the current champ of the UFC have done. Again takes more than amazing speed and power, it takes mad skill.
He was the 2nd man in the UFC to KO Cro cop, and he did it 3 years after GG did, with CC having great success in between those fights. Everyone always thinks it was GG that stole CCs soul.. I think it was Mir. After GG he went 5-2, After Mir he went on a 3 fight skid for the first time in his carreer.
What im trying to say is Mir has been making/breaking standup-type records for a while now, against great standup fighters. IMO his standup is no joke.

IMO his standup is no joke. | Good points but look how much better Nog did in the rematch when he was healthy. Call it an excuse if you want but when Nog shows up totally flat and with man tits to a fight I'm inclined to believe that that had something to do with the poor performance of his. Against Cro Cop neither fighter looked that good until he KO'd Mirko, which was impressive, but lets not forget about lackluster he looked before the hail mary knee landed. He was impressive against Kongo but Kongo stands completely straight up. DC does not, plus he is quicker and his footwork is great.
Mir also looks like he's just gotten a bit slower over the years...plus I question his chin and DC has the better cardio imo. I realize Mir is very dangerous on the ground but does anyone honestly think he can take Cormier down? I sure as hell don't, unless he starts getting beat up on the feet, which I don't see happening.
