But damn bro, I'm a straight guy and tempted by "booty options" just like the next man. But to put that squarely on the woman as "jealousy" is slightly mysogynistic--nice.
Call me simple but I was thinking this too. JDS came from humble beginnings, but now he's the BMOC. Something has to give.
And for people to dismiss this as something that wouldn't affect him is cold-blooded. I'm not saying JDS would have won the fight if his marital status was stable, but damn, this is the type of thing that would affect someone's confidence throughout training camp and in the cage. Not everyone can compartmentalize. Didn't Randy say that his divorce affected his performances (the losing ones) against Chuck? Damn.

On topic, personally, Id think getting a divorce would make me want to smash somebody, not take a total beating.

I dont think it was the only factor but it could weigh heavily on his mind. You marry someone and stay with them for ten years and then things change, even if he was the one who wanted out hes still going to be a bit off. It doesn't change what happened or give him a pass but I feel bad for the guy.

I just look at those Randy/Chuck II & III fights and think that this is a certain possibility of influencing the decision.
If anything, if we give Cain a mulligan on the first one for a blown knee and a second mulligan to JDS for the divorce(I mean really, which is worse?), I believe the UFC has a recipe for arguably their greatest trilogy fight in their history.

I've been in some places mentally where I wasn't even fit to work much less compete against one of the baddest mofo's walkin.

He looked like an absolutely different fighter that night. In 25 minutes he did literally nothing. And physically he was looking in excellent shape.
I think that the divorce abviously affected him, but I do not think it was the reason of his loss.
I don't think that after training so hard, he went inside the octagon being watched by millions of people around the world, defending his title as the world champion and was thinking about his divorce.
I think that any athlete at that level, can focus for 25 minutes and just think about the fight.
A different thing may be that because of the divorce, his training camp was not good. But he has said (even after the fight) that his training camp was great and that he even overtrained.
To me, the main reasons of the loss, are first of all a wrong strategy, and secondly it was over self confidence.
