Great fight.
A good test for both of them, to see where they belong...

I give Mousasi the edge technically standing, but its not like Goose isnt highly skilled himself... His size and good footwork will only help.

I give Mousasi the edge on the ground, but I dont see him being able to get Goose down.

Lets hope it turns into the standup battle we want to see.

Not sure if this is the best match up for the UFC's next golden boy... Hard to continue to build your name when the casual fans dont know anything about your opponent.

No I'm saying amongst the hardcore fans. If Goose wins, then he should be with no doubt the #1 contender.

Well who are the other "big names" out there. Now that he beat Shogun... Rampage is gone... Machida, Hendo, Rashad all tied up...

Mousasi asked for Goose in particular... and Goose said after the shogun fight that he didnt want to wait around for a title shot... He seemed to realize the log jam and list of possible contenders at LHW. Got to respect him for that...

LHW has and will continue to be a stacked division.

If Hendo gets past Machida, he should get his shot. Lyoto is looking for a rematch of his own. If Glover is victorious he should be on equal ground with Goose or close to him...

Who is to say Mousasi or even someone like Davis arent better than Goose...

Its a stacked Division...

Jones clearly ahead of the pact but a lot of talent there, new guys coming up... DC talking about dropping down and getting a title shot off the bat.


Whatever decision the UFC makes, some of the fans and fighters wont be happy.

It is getting that way with other divisions now as well, as the UFC is acquiring more talent.

Hendo wins he gets next shot hands down. Winner of Goose/Mousasi is next in line after that though.

this will be an awesome fight! however i think gegard is a step down in competition from shogun.

I'd say Goose is the #1 contender right now, if he beats Mousasi that doesn't change anything.

Conversely, and oddly enough, I have a bit of a hard time thinking Mousasi would deserve to be the #1 contender with a win over what I consider the current #1 contender...

I can appreciate a case being made for Hendo, but I think Goose deserves it more.

Glover's been on a tear for years, but not against top flight competition. How he fares against Rampage will tell me a lot about where he actually is in the landscape; but I'd expect 1 or 2 more wins against top competition to call him the #1 contender.

The rest of the cream of the crop are all a few wins away, imo.

I like both guys, too, and I think it's going to be a great technical fight. Gus will have the home land advantage again! I am looking very forward to see how Mousasi does in this fight. I hate for either of them to lose right now though.

Gus is definitely the number one contender right now, however, if Hendo were to knock Machida out, he would be neck to neck with Gus, IMO.
