i've said this before, silva will defend his title against rockhold around summer and weidman will probably fight jacre for the number one contender shot.

Out of all the potential opponents Luke has the smallest name. Sure he is the strikeforce champion, but he won and defended it when strikeforce was at its lowest point. Which makes this call out make even less sense.

So people keep bitching about wanting Anderson to defend the belt regularly... Yet at the same time are only satisfied if he fights Weidman. They didnt want him to sit out too long....

Yet weidman is injured and wouldnt be able to fight until the summer.

When is the last time the UFC scheduled a fight 6 months in advance. And would they ever do that with an injured guy like weidman... seems risky on their part.

Souza is talented but Ed Herman might actually be his highest ranked win to date. Probably his highest ranked opponent after that is Gegard but he lost that fight; and much of this board is dubious of Gegard's actual ranking.

Herman is Jacare's biggest win? GTFO. are you so UFC or bust that you cannot recognize talent outside of the company...

And What is so outrageous about Kennedy being better than Maia... Kennedy doesnt excell anywhere like Maia does, but his all around game is there. If you look at a head to head, how do you see it going. Kennedy has good wrestling... do you see Maia getting him down with ease?

And Maia's standup is nothing to be impressed about, Tim could easily outstrike him standing like Weidman did. Tim actually has more finishing ability standing than Maia does.

In the last three years, his top wins, outside of Herman, are Kennedy and Lawler (Lindland was well past his prime at that point). I definitely wouldn't put Lawler high. Kennedy could be argued as ranking higher than Herman but certainly different competition.

While my point was somewhat facetious, Jacare does not have recent notable wins regardless of organization. And any global ranking system would validate that statement. He's talented, but rankings are based on wins.

Frankly, I think you know that but just want to argue.

In skill? I don't agree but there's a reason Maia is at 170 IMO. So I'm not sure who would win at MW.

In rankings? Because of who he's fought and who's he's beat. Maia wasn't a world beater at MW but he does hold wins over top 15 and top 10 guys.

He also has that great win over Herman

Weidman is pretty much an unknown still, he's just the latest guy this board has clung to that thinks he is being unjustly persecuted for not getting a title shot. Rockhold at least had some exposure with his title fights, and it could be billed as a champ vs champ fight. Outside of those 2, who else is a possible contender? Belfort? Lombard? The guy who would make the biggest fight at MW for him would be Bisping, it's just unfortunate that he's coming off a KO loss.

Maia and Munoz are bigger names and wins than Jacare and Kennedy. No doubt.
