I also thought he looked bad in that fight, which is one of my reasons for thinking Jones wrecks him. People tried to say that Cormier knew he was going to win the fight and that the guy was a can so he took it easy in the fight/training, but i think thats bullshit. No matter who the opponent is, a professional athlete should train to the best of his ability and fight to the best of his ability, but he looked very flat. Also in his fight against Barnet, Cormier got tagged repeatedly with jabs and knees; I think Jones' striking ability to be much greater than Barnet's, and he is much better at utilizing reach.


That being said, Cormier is a beast and I really like him as a fighter, I just think Jones is the better fighter. I think his MMA wrestling is more than enough to handle Daniel's, his ability to maintain distance on the feet is great, and I think he is a more complete striker/fighter.

The only fight I've really been impressed with Cormier was the Bigfoot fight, but even after he KO'd Overeem I'm still not impressed by Bigfoot as a fighter. I don't believe that he would've KO'd Overeem if he wasn't completely dismissing Bigfoots power/striking ability.

Mir doesn't do well against elite wrestlers. That fight is going to go a lot like the fight with Barnett. As far as Cormier destroying Jones, it can happen. Jones won't be able to do to him what he's done so effectively against his other opponents. He won't be able to take him down and use his elbows from the guard.

he hasnt done that since Vera. He smashed Shogun/Rampage/Machida/Evans/Vitor in ALL aspects of MMA, he didnt just take them down.

I think if Cormier has a good cut he definitely is a problem for Jones. But he's so small, I believe his reach is 70-71 inches.

I also wasn't impressed with the last fight, but I think it was more a "play it safe" to come in the ufc on a win and also the fact that he was the favorite for the first time in awhile if not the first time. Nobody wants to get upsetted when you're about get a big "promotion" or whatever.

Indeed, Jones isn't just a GNP specialist, he is very proficient in all aspects of MMA, although I have no idea how his bottom game is.
