| Matt Riddle: I still hold the record over Uriah Hall for best knockout in TUF history Matt Riddle: I still hold the record over Uriah Hall for best knockout in TUF history - MMAmania.com Quote:
Consider the gauntlet thrown down!
Word quickly spread about Uriah Hall's insane spinning wheel kick knockout over Adam Cella on this past Tuesday's episode of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 17. Many are calling it the greatest knockout in TUF history, but one man might have an argument that he still holds the record.
That man is UFC welterweight Matt Riddle, who's thunderous right hand knockout of Dan Simmler in his bout to get into the TUF season seven house is still considered one of the most brutal in the history of the show. Riddle blasted Simmler then dropped three hammer fists to the jaw, leaving his opponent moaning in agony and making for one of the most visibly and audibly disturbing post-fight scenes in the history of the show.
When asked who he felt now holds the knockout record on last night's episode of The Verbal Submission, "Deep Waters" admitted that Hall's KO was flashier, but in terms of actual damage, he's still king.
Here's word-for-word what Riddle had to say: Quote: |
"I think [Hall's] knockout was definitely one of the flashiest and hard-hitting knockouts. Usually knockouts that happen that way aren't as hard-hitting as that. It was a really impressive knockout and he did a lot of damage with that kick. That said, when I was on season seven, I broke that dude's jaw in three places and gave him a level three concussion which means he had amnesia and he didn't remember six months of his life. So that guy (Adam Cella) got his memory back in an hour, my guy didn't get his memory back for six months AND he had his jaw wired for six months. So I think his knockout was definitely fancier and definitely way prettier, but medically and in long term damage, I still hold the record."
| Riddle will be battling Che Mills next Saturday night (Feb. 16, 2013) at UFC on Fuel TV 7 in London, England and he makes a strong case for himself.

wow, i forgot about that one. Never like to see a guy that badly hurt and not get up for so long. Its a tough sport, yes, but I never like to see anyone suffer such horrible injuries. When i played hockey, my mom would be an emotional wreck watching me play. I can only imagine what these guy's mothers are going through watching them get knocked out like that. =(

...and that's where Riddle's career peaked.

That's the kind of thing that can happen when you enter your opponent's range with your lead hand down by your waist...

I don't mind telling me you had a flashy knockout but when you describe how the guy lost his memory and broke his jaw I tend to feel like you shouldnt be boasting that much

Both sick KOs! Hall's looked prettier, but Riddle's did more damage. In a fight between the two, I would pick Riddle.
