UFC Hall-of-Famer Tito Ortiz revealed today on Inside MMA that he is waiting for the UFC to officially release former Strikeforce featherweight champion Cristiane Santos from her UFC contract.
Santos was brought to the UFC to compete in their newly inaugurated bantamweight division and to challenge champion Ronda Rousey in a much anticipate superfight, however, the former featherweight champion refused to drop down to 135 lbs citing an inability to make the cut.
UFC president Dana White went as far as hiring Mike Dolce to help Santos make the cut from 165 lbs to 135 lbs. Dolce stated that she could have easily made the weight.
However, Santos and her manage Ortiz refused to endanger Santos' life by cutting the extra weight.
Due to Santos inability to make the bantamweight division, the UFC has elected to release her from her UFC contract.

Damn, I was really hoping for that fight. But if she can't regularly compete at 135 and there's no 145 div, then it's too risky for the UFC to put Rousey against her. Too bad.

Never thought this fight would happen at 135 anyway. Dana doesn't want the possibility of Cyborg derailing the Rousey money train.
Cyborg cuts from 160 with like 6% body fat, hence why she was taking winstrol (that's another topic). Getting to 135 from 160 with 6% body fat will definitely not be a good cut, even if she took the winstrol for that cut.
Dana and Rousey never wanted that fight to begin with. Just look how lights up when talking about Silva vs Gsp, look how adamant he was for Edgar vs Aldo and Penn vs Gsp, or Jones vs Silva. He never wanted this fight to begin with. Lets not forget Ronda was a 145er, its not like she couldn't fight there or at a catchweight.

I can see if there was a 135 and 145 division to have a super fight, but there not gonna make a superfight when 2 divisions aren't even established. It just doesn't make sense. UFC Is trying this thing out with 1 division and if Cyborg wants to fight and be apart of it she has to at 135. Its not Dana or Rouseys fault.

She could always just move back to her natural weight class and fight Frankie Edgar or Denis Siver.

Then why did he hire Dolce to try and help Cyborg make that weight cut ?
