Being that the fight is in May and Lamas is the "contender in waiting", this feels like he's taking a legit #1 contender fight against Zombie.
As much as I love Mendes, he's the biggest threat to Lamas's title shot right now at 145, but win or lose, he's not getting a rematch against Aldo anytime soon....
Let's see one of those 155ers who've dropped down take a swing at Mendes

I don't know what you do with Mendes at this point. He's like a MW Sonnen in that he lost his title fight but can still beat most of his division; except Mendes doesn't sell the same way.
I'm hoping we see Gil drop to FW and get Mendes/Gil.

I think Frankie is going to get a match that favours him a bit more at this point though.

They've pulled Mendes from the card, I'm thinking he gets a better matchup announced in the coming days....
