I admit that I know nothing about taekwondo, but I am sure that nothing else that you used as an example even allows kicking. I do not know what he meant, other than trying to discredit a big strength of his fighters opponent.
they are all sports which have aspects utilized in mma . he was saying blocking leg kicks is more obvious and utilized in sports outside of mma . To be SPECIFIC k-1 , muay thai , etc. And he is correct. I f for example a caoch had said hip tosses are not utilized nearly as much in mma as other sports then my judo reference would apply. My statement was mainly for the wiseguys posting above . we all know Duke roufus isn't stupid enough to think theree are legkicks in footbal. Just facestomps

Aldo's leg kicks are nasty but with that said If i remember correctly they didnt really affect Hominick that much (who has years of kickboxing under his belt). I can see where Roufus is coming from saying they could not affect Pettis who i am sure has been around leg kicks for much of his life.
Im a big Aldo fan, and dont particularly like Pettis, but this fight has me nervous... Pettis has the skill to deal with Aldo standing, and even threaten to finish him... He is training with Roufus, who is a kickboxing legend... He knows his stuff... but has really turned his attention to MMA, and knows how to best kickboxing into MMA.
Aldo better bring in all the big-time striking trainers for this fight, because you know that Duke and his team are picking apart Aldo footage, looking to expose him and put him away.
If Aldo hit your leg once you will feel it. Aldos kicks are a different level...he destroys Pettis
That said curling needs legkicks for sure
They didn't seem to affect Hominick or Edgar very much.
Pettis has very good anticipation and is good at creating angles. He's just a smart fighter in general, and that added with his quickness, he's a dangerous fight for anyone. I'll also take his cardio and ground game over Aldo's. This fight is 50/50 for me.
