UFC's Dana White on Cris Cyborg: 'She's irrelevant' - Bloody Elbow

UFC President Dana White today confirmed that the promotion has released Cris "Cyborg" Santos at the UFC on Fuel TV 7: Barao vs. McDonald Press conference.

"I'm telling you right now, she wants nothing to do with this fight with Ronda (Rousey). This is the biggest show in the world. We're working with her to get her a deal or whatever. When you send a letter from your lawyer and your doctor saying I will die if I try to make 135 (pounds), it's just the goofiest thing. I've never seen anything like it in the fight business.

"Okay, so you don't want to make 135, but you want to talk about fighting Ronda. First of all, you tested positive for steroids and got stripped of your title. And you're trying to talk about how Ronda doesn't want to fight you, but she's the champion at 135. If Ronda goes and does the fight at 140 and does the fight at 140, it's not even for a title. The fight just makes no sense.

"So what happens is, so we'll figure something out where Cyborg gets some fights. Ronda defends her title a few times. Then maybe Ronda moves up to whatever and fights... they want nothing to do with that, wants nothing to do with it. It's wacky beyond wackiness.

"There is no 145-pound women's division. She's under contract with us, so we'd get her some fights somewhere else. We get her some fights. Let's play this 135-pound thing out and see what happens, see where this thing goes. No.

It's unclear what Cyborg and her management team, led by Tito Ortiz, are up to here. There are very few opportunities for women to fight at 145 pounds in today's MMA marketplace.

Champions fighting people outside of their weight class makes no sense. Dana White should take some tips from this Dana White guy.

He's right to a certain degree. Cris Cyborg DID test positive for steroids, a notion most of the MMA fans were certain about. She needs to get back in the cage, PED-free, prove that she is the fighter she is without enhancements. Honestly, I have no idea why Cyborg is even pushing for the fight. Eventually Ronda will have to go out and seek Cyborg, and then Cyborg will have some bargaining power.

Most of us already believe that Cyborg is the better fighter, and will beat Ronda should they fight. I think if both ladies are winning, the MMA community and internet talks will be talking about the possible matchup and that Cyborg is the better fighter. If Ronda TRULY wants to be the best female fighter, she will HAVE to challenge Cyborg for that honor.

However, I'm betting that should Ronda beat everyone (besides Cyborg) or lose to someone in consecutive bouts for the title, she will leave the sport and go off to Hollywood.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Hollywood would want Ronda. I mean I'm sure she would get some work, but I don't think it would be much. I just don't think she is Hollywood gorgeous, not to say that she doesn't have a very nice body. I don't think I even have to mention how much I doubt her ability to act if you have seen Ronda Boo Boo.

She has a great body, and her face isn't bad (except for her eye mole thing which actually creeps me out in a weird way that probably says more about me being strange than any minor fault with her). That being said, I do not think she is very charismatic and sometimes she seems pretty obnoxious.

Being great at mma + being attractive= makes her a big fish in a small pond (as far as wmma is concerned)

Little to no acting talent/experience + being attractive= makes her a small fish in a gigantic Hollywood pond (granted that mma would give her an initial boost)

She isn't Gina, and it is working for Gina so far. I can't argue about the issues thing.

Yeah, I'm not holding my breath. This fight will probably never happen. I think Cyborg's biggest fight is Rin Nakki in Japan. I don't know if bellator has a 145 women's division. I think it's only 125 and 135. Invicta sounds like a sure bet with maybe a super fight in One FC or something. And there's no telling how long before Dana gets bored with his new toy......

You know, I didn't want to be the asshole that first brought that up.

But I honestly am grossed out by that mole on her face. I know you're a big fan, but do you honestly find her that attractive? She has kind of a fat face, her nostrils are kinda piggish, and there is something wrong with the proportion of her forehead compared to the rest of her face.

I know it sounds like I'm being a dick, but I honestly don't understand why some people consider her "gorgeous." She certainly has looked very impressive in her short MMA career, and I can understand why she has a fanbase as a result of that.

Also, she comes off as unintelligent whenever she is being interviewed.

Maybe I'm just biased because I try to compare her to WMMA's original goddess...
