When Gomez came out I was thinking "what the hell is that number next to his name?" And then I realized it was his rank. Looks like now that UFC has its own ranking system they're going to remind us how flawed it is every chance they get.

It's not the UFC's rankings. It's Fightmetric ratings that the UFC are using.

Still going to have people asking questions about UFC match making now that they show the rankings (UFC generated or not). With some of the mismatches and undeserved title shots, more casual fans are going to start to asking questions like why is the number 6 ranked guy getting a title shot or why is an unranked guy getting a LHW title shot and so on...

Injuries, timing, filming TUF, turning down fights, weight class drops.

If the "casual fan" can't put two and two together, than no explanation would matter anyways.
