I think having the Cain vs JDS fight on free television was a great long-term strategy. That was one of the biggest HW fights in recent history and it would have resulted in huge PPV numbers, but they instead put it on free TV for a larger exposure to the general public... with the long-term vision of the company in mind.

Also, not accusing you of the following but many people give the UFC crap for having some of the smaller guys headline shows (125 and 135 fighters), even though they are fighting for the title. Also, on this forum I heard a lot of people talk shit about Rhonda headlining a PPV (again a title fight). So I can't help but find it ironic that when the UFC maintains the "purity" of the sport and its integrity by reserving the Main Event for whoever is fighting for a title, they also get shat on.

It sounds like from reading his interviews, he was guilty of living above his means and blew through his money.

I know the UFC is a business. I know Dana White has EARNED his money. I know Dana White has the free will to do as he pleases with his money and his personal bank account has nothing to do with UFC pay roll / over head... But when you hear Dana White talking on the Rogan podcast about gambling where he has lost up to a million dollars a night and then you read him saying Fitch is too expensive.....

Things that make you go hmmmmmm

World Series of Fighting Interested in Acquiring Former UFC Contender Jon Fitch | Bleacher Report
Quote:
Ali Abdel-Aziz, the vice president and matchmaker for World Series of Fighting, confirms to Bleacher Report that they have begun preliminary discussions to potentially bring Fitch to the up-and-coming promotion in 2013.

While no formal offer has been made, Abdel-Aziz says that they have talked to Fitch's management team since his release and are interested in the services of the former UFC welterweight contender.

"We would be honored to have Jon Fitch in our promotion," said Abdel-Aziz speaking to Bleacher Report on Friday. "He is one of the top welterweights in the sport."

There are more than just one or two business models in the world.

Show me any figures at all, beyond anecdotally that indicate any of this is true.

Show me figures on this as well, while your at it.

How exactly does Jon Fitch provide long term growth to the UFC? He's a fighter who they believe to be in decline, and if he makes a come back in a smaller org they are open to resigning him.

As for what the other fighters bring to the table, I'm just going off of the amount of buzz they create. People care about Leben and Hardy fights, and Hardy looks to be a huge fan favorite in England. Regardless, it looks like they are both one fight away from being cut based on how things are going now.

Dana says he doesn't like to give out real numbers, which is def. the truth cause i came on here and saw people saying things like i shoulda got paid more even though i lost but i headlined the card..

i did, dana sent me an extra 25k right after the fight plus i got main event sponsor money haha

the UFC pays you to do your job, if you do it than you get paid good.. in my UFC debut i made over 80,000... thats a lot of money for a division half the MMA community didn't know existed!!

i love all of you guys, most of you know my life story, i just wanted you to know that i get taken care of by the UFC real well, ESPECIALLY when it comes to $!

Good stuff, his disclosed pay was garbage. But still, nothing compared to the millions and millions and millions and millions those football players you mentioned were making.

No but it better highlights what these fighters are really getting paid.

Besides, Jon Fitch could do something else with his life. No one forced him in to MMA. I can guarantee he's already made over a million dollars fighting.
