Agreed. The timing might not be right, but with the UFC 158 shuffle I wonder if Fitch refused to fill in somewhere. Fitch/Condit could have been a lot of fun.

This is why the UFC is not the NFL of jack shit. You have an egomaniac for the "president" and a butt hurt, midget with a Napoleonic complex in the match-maker.

Then there's guys like Dan Hardy who lost 4 in a row and still had a second chance. Why? Because he comes to fight? He had zero offense against GSP and Anthony Johnson, KO'ed by Hardy and did have a great fight against Lytle but still got submitted. Grispi at least got cut. I don't know how he was able to get a fight after losing 3 in a row.
Wholeheartedly agree!
Fitch is a top 10 and I believe he can beat over 80% of that division. He was neutralized by Maia but at least he wasnt sub'd like Story was.

Same goes for Volkmann. He is a Fitch type fighter but he puts up wins. I honestly never found all of his fights to boring. He does go for subs every chance he gets. Seems like he was cut because of his political antics. Also seems likes just cause you're a fighter, or any non-political profession, you can't have a political opinion.

VMAT was surprising too. He was 5-3 in his latest stint in the UFC, and lost to 2 top 10 guys. I feel as a veteran, he deserved another chance.

With all these guys freed up, I can see Bellator dropping the Alvarez case, and use that money to sign these guys up. The UFC will give Alvarez a handsome contract, one that is overpaid.

LOL at the fact that Jon Fitch is somehow immune to being cut.

I wonder if those guys refused any recent matches formulated by Joe Silva?

Hell, Id have cut Leornard Garcia, Jake Sheilds, Cody McKenzie and Dan Hardy before Id cut Fitch. Fitch was listed in the top ten list updated by UFC / media on Monday, hard to justify unless they had another falling out.

IMO they were looking for an excuse to let Fitch go since the video game stuff but he was winning and doing so in a most boring fashion. Same went for Antonio McKee but he screwed it up pretty quickly.

Chris Leben!!!

I know he's your guy Cat but between all the losing and the pill popping, he deserved to be cut. He's been given too many chances and honestly, his excitement level has decreased.

Garcia, Melvin are also more worthy of being cut.

I hate to see fitch cut. I'll bet it was a combination of his recent record, fighting style, pay, and the videogame fighter likeliness signing fiasco that gave him his walking papers.

I’m not really sure Fitch is any organizations gain, given the price he’ll probably be asking considering his UFC pedigree. He’s been a UFC gate keeper for some time now and has started to lose to the up-and-comers. It seems like the right time to cut him.

If Fitch can score a few impressive wins (not decisions) in the smaller shows, maybe he’ll get invited back. But, I honestly feel like with the current version of Fitch, everyone knows what he’s got to bring to the table… and not many people want to watch it…

I’m a little surprised by Sass as he seemed to be getting a push. We’ll likely see him again in the Octagon.

There are so many quality guys outside of the UFC now, you could almost create a respectable MMA promotion from the most recent round of cuts!
