that was a nice fight... cant believe he didnt let go of the heel hook while he was getting SMASHED in the face

Hes going for a sub yes, but is he protecting himself...not at all.

I'm pretty certain that first fight was intended to be a tryout and the loser was supposed to get cut, with the roster trimming under way. But they have to give Yuri one more fight, these guys opened the show with a bang! That was the epitome of mixed martial arts, so many facets of fighting on display.

In my opinion, the "not intelligently defending yourself " position comes when someone is essentially turtleing, but you're going for a sub then youre still attacking and the fight should continue unless you abandon the sub and are still eating shots.
On a side note, this is the first time in 3 weeks I've tasted the the sweetness of fermented potatoe, oh how I miss thee. Lol
