Yes please. Llamas should be fighting Aldo next, not Pettis who is on yes a 3 fight win streak...IN A DIFFERENT DIVISION...Llamas and Swanson are on 4 fight win streaks, Swanson finishing 3/4 and Llamas finishing 3/4.

This is bs to me, I actually feel pissed off about it. Where is the reward for those guys who have damn well earned their shot!

LOL the title shot bullshit. It's starting to get a little ridiculous. I know within the fight game there are so many variables but something has to change.

I was looking up Machida's buyrates and realized he got his title shot against Jones after losing 2 in a row and then KOing a not top 50 Randy Couture.

Might I offer this suggestion, as a means to end all speculation? All the current belt holders, plus the accepted top 2 contenders, from each weight class, all together in the cage at once. Royal Rumble style. Last man standing gets all belts.

In all fairness, Machida did get the title shot on somewhat of a short notice after Rashad was injured. I don't think anyone else was even close to a title shot at that time.

Nearly all the divisions are looking bad at the moment with undeserved title shots or just shallow divisions.

HW: We have Big Foot getting a title shot after getting dismantled by Cain 9 months ago. Then again, he at least deserves it more than the ones I mention below. Not giving it to him may cause either Struve/Hunt (both of whom haven't beat one top 10) or keeping Cain on the shelf for a while.

LHW: Sonnen, someone who hasn't won at 205, lost his last fight and just because he stepped to the plate on short notice once, is now getting the title shot. Hendo was obviously ready by April given that he just fought.

MW: Nothing is happening because Anderson and camp are twiddling their thumbs.

WW: Diaz, who lost his last fight and got suspended for a year is getting a title shot over one of the most deserved contenders in any divisions in Hendricks.

LW: No complaints here.

FW: Seems like a line-up of undeserved contenders in Edgar (lost 2 fights in a row; doesn't matter how close), and Pettis, over guys like Lamas, Jung and Swanson who have done much more in their own division. Looks like winner of Aldo/Pettis will get the LW title shot, which keeps the division on hold even longer!

BW: No complaints here. It's too bad that they don't have anyone really lined up.

FLW: Not a deep enough division but I'm happy with Moraga getting the title shot to keep the division growing.

W: Again not a deep division, but looks like they're hiring more women, so in time I'll have more faith.

If that were to happen, Aldo would've won 17 fights in a row, of which the last 9 would've been title fights (7 defences including Pettis). Plus, he would be holding two belts at the same time, and would've beaten the current LW champion in Bendo, the current #1 LW contendor in Pettis, the former LW champion in Edgar and the former #1 LW contender in Florian. Plus, in terms of skillset, he has better tools in his arsenal than GSP and Anderson, and his only glaring hole seems to be his cardio.

That would be very deserving of the #1 P4P!

Yes, Aldo would be the P4P best...for the reasons that Doc has below.

The one prob I would have is Aldos two belts are 10 pounds apart, while guys like BJ, Hendo had 15+ pounds between thier belts. but this would be more of a agurment agianest GOAT if the conf ever happened

In my eyes he is already the LW champ with that win over Frankie.

At this point its kind of redundant to try and explain who deserves what in whatever situation. The UFC is going to do wtf ever it wants in spite of logic and reason.

If Aldo could get both belts I'd still have him as #2 p4p since GSP has faced and absolutely dominated much tougher competition. He more than likely won't beat a way bigger Bendo anyway though due to lack of cardio and Bendo having him on his back for a lot of the fight.

I think Pettis has a better chance of beating Aldo then beating Bendo if UFC gives him that option. Where would that put Pettis in the p4p rankings?

I always felt Aldo should've moved up to LW while Frankie was champ. I felt he was simply better than Frankie. Frankie looked the exact same at 145 and 155, whereas I would think that a 155 Aldo versus Frankie would be more dominant than a 145 Aldo versus Frankie due to less of a weight cut. He would obviously have a tougher time with some of the other LWs though.

To clarify, does Pettis still have an immediate chance at a title shot at LW if he wins the FW belt, or is he expected to stay at 145 and defend?

Because if he's given the same chance as Aldo--meaning, beat Jose for the BW strap and then go on to face Bendo for his next immediate bout--he'd already have secured the same deal that Aldo is just now getting.

Meaning he'd be getting that same deal without ever winning UFC gold, without ever defending UFC gold. I really like Pettis--I actually like him more than I like Aldo--but that's a shortcut that I don't know he's earned. zuffa would be treating a contender more respectfully than a dedicated champion and p4p great.

And that would be bullshit, in my opinion.

rh
Nah, I read it as he definitely only intends to do it with an Aldo win. And I agree with you if was for the winner.
