MMAjunkie.com on Monday confirmed with UFC President Dana White that if Aldo is victorious in his August fight with Anthony Pettis (16-2 MMA, 3-1 UFC), he will move up to 155 pounds for a shot at the title in that division.

White's revelation is the latest development in a matchup that just 48 hours ago the UFC boss said the Brazilian champ wasn't interested in accepting. However, after a discussion with Aldo's manager, Andre Pederneiras, Aldo is now not only happy to accept the fight but also has an impressive reward waiting on him should he have his hand raised.

Well, not quite, as he doesn't need a LW win...but if your point was that he's shouldn't need to earn anything to move up and face Bendo, you're probably right.

Do you think dana would make Georges jump through a hoop to face Anderson at 185, or make Anderson jump through one to face Jones? Do you think Jones would have to "earn" a shot at Velasquez if he wanted to move up?

I still think Aldo is getting shafted here.

I'm not in favor of champs dictating title shots at all...but I think the playing field has been messed with so much, it's just goofy.

if he could defend each belt 2x a year id love to see a dual champion... i know it would be hell on most fighters bodies though

Very nice incentive for Aldo. For him to beat Pettis and then have the chance to be champ of a very stack LW division would be a very impressive feat
