Did he have an exemption? Nope.
Could he have applied? Yep.
The UFC already has a fighter with the stoner anti-authority and anti-social schtick, they don't need two.

The medical license is only valid for your state and means nothing outside of it. Commission do not acknowledge it as a free pass to get high then show up to drug tests with metabolites.
The rules for marijuana are there to stay. He should have paid more attention to the proper procedure and to Nick Diaz's case.
That card does not mean you can get stoned whenever or wherever you want without reprecussions.
If I showed up to work stoned even with a medical marijuana card, I'd know that I was violating the rules and if caught I would be punished or let go. So I don't. His situation is no different.

I'm so annoyed Matt is genuinely a good guy. one of the nicest fighters I've dealt with it is so ridiculous that marijuana is illegal.

Exemptions for marijuana are there but I don't believe a single one has been given out.
Riddle should ask BJ Penn how he never got busted in his career.
Ordinary people take offense when others boast about how they don't follow the order of law and society's paradigms.

Wow... 3 weeks? Honestly, I feel bad for him not educating himself on the metabolites of Mary Jane. That shit can stay in your system for 2 months or longer for heavy use (from what I've read anyways.) As a marijuana smoker myself, I both sympathies with him, and shake my head in disappointment at the same time.
To be real, I'm currently trying to get a job myself. I've smoked for a few years, every single day (3-5 drags off a pipe, so not a very heavy user, IMO). I quit smoking about 4 ˝ weeks ago, and I'm still not confident I'd pass a drug test. How the hell can a marijuana user expect to pass a drug test in 3 weeks, at least one that clearly uses it every single day, as I would do, with a card & prescription saying I'm legally allowed to?
Plain and simple, Riddle fucked up. He knows the laws and the rules. Regardless of whether the laws and rules are bullshit, they exist for the moment. He clearly didn't learn from them the first time around, and hopefully he's intelligent enough (or someone close to him is) to figure it out now. It's a damn shame, for a fighter to have all his professional fights inside the UFC, and be cut after a win.

Twice.

A medical marijuana card doesn't mean shit to anyone except to a police officer and a dispensary. It holds no value to anyone else.
If you show one to your employer it will not mean anything to them, they would only be on your ass to not break the rules while working and they have reason to fire you on the drop of a hat.
Riddle should have been lowkey about something that is highly political.
You don't see fighters going around saying how they think anyone who is against abortion is a fool.
North America has an infantile, ignorant view on plant medicines but Matt did not follow the rules, so he fucked himself.
