| Johny Hendricks Hasn't Been Promised A Title Shot With Win Over Carlos Condit Johny Hendricks Hasn't Been Promised A Title Shot With Win Over Carlos Condit - FightLine.com Quote:
"I haven't gotten promised anything," said Hendricks on Inside MMA. "The only thing I do know is if I beat Condit then there's nothing else to prove. I've beat everybody else there is and if we have to start beating other people, we need to drop down even lower."
After Rory MacDonald went down with a back and neck injury, Hendricks was named as the replacement against Condit in the co-main event.
"I want a shot at the belt and Carlos Condit is standing in my way," said Hendricks

A promised title shot means nothing anyway.

I believe Hendricks is deserving of a title shot and so do many others but has the UFC told him at any point in the last year that he was getting the title shot? I dont think he was promised anything

I think Hendricks needs to focus more on Condit and less on the title. I didn't like the fact Diaz got the shot before he did, but lets be honest Hendricks has only been deserving of a shot since his win over Kampman. He caught Fitch with a great KO but then barely edged Koscheck in a very close decision, so again he has been deserving of a shot as of his last win. No need to be acting like he has been screwed over for years now, because he simply hasn't been.

After Fitch: I wouldn't have been mad about it, maybe a wee bit premature.
After Kos: Just about perfect timing for him to get a title shot in my opinion, regardless of how close the fight was.
After Kampmann: No doubt in my mind that he is the most deserving guy in the UFC of a title shot (Weidman could be 1B).
IF he beats Condit and doesn't get his shot, he is getting screwed harder than any fighter ever (except maybe the gay porn TUF guy from a few years ago [I know his name is Dakota Cochrane, but I wanted to act like I didn't remember]).

If he beats Condit who else is there? Silva? Henderson? They can't seriously be banking on a superfight. Hendricks is next in line and he should be fighting for the title now.

And given the time frame back then, he couldn't really have waited out.
lol at the Dakota thing.

I hate to say this but I think if Hendricks beats Condit, and especially finishes him, GSP will chase the fight with Anderson after he beats Diaz (or if, whatever).
I hope I am wrong though. I want to see Hendricks defeat Condit and then challenge GSP for the title.

I'll be cheering for Condit just because he's one of my favourite fighters. I think he'll take a decision against Hendricks by using his reach, avoiding most takedown attemtps, and being able to stay active on the few occasions he does get taken down.
That being said, I think it's bullshit Hendricks didn't get the title shot after the Kampmann win. It pisses me off because if he loses, people will say he never deserved the shot to begin with. I don't think that is the case though, if you keep fighting top contenders over and over you may eventually lose, but that doesn't mean you were never deserving.
At this point, complaining about title shots in the UFC is like complaining that there's too much snow in Ottawa.*
* Everyone does it, but it doesn't change anything.
