| Dave Meltzer Claims That Ronda Rousey is the Fifth Biggest PPV Draw in the UFC Dave Meltzer Claims That Ronda Rousey is the Fifth Biggest PPV Draw in the UFC MMA News | Mixed Martial Arts | UFC News | BJPenn | MMA Fight | UFC Fights Quote:
Dave Meltzer, the MMA industry’s wiz with PPV numbers and ratings, estimated early that PPV numbers for the card would pull somewhere in the 200,000-300,000 buys, similar to the numbers that Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar pull. That number has apparently been crushed.
Meltzer now believes that Rousey has drawn somewhere between 400,000-500,000 PPV buys for her history setting UFC debut against Carmouche. Meltzer is also stating that DirecTV has claimed that UFC 157 has sold more HD Telescast buys than any other UFC PPV in the history of the company. That is saying something huge! In other words, Rousey, in terms of PPV buys, may be for real.
Meltzer explained that if Rousey can continue her winning ways and keep defending her UFC strap successfully that she can easily become the UFC’s fifth biggest PPV draw. Currently the list consists of GSP, Jon Jones, Anderson Silva, Cain Velasquez, and now Ronda Rousey.

If its true, then big ups to Rhonda for promoting the shit out of herself, she trully found something she was good at and figured a way to get people to pay attention. However, I HIGHLY doubt that this all due to her, considering that the card had Henderson on it and Wanderlei Silva.

I'm sure having hendo vs lyoto on the card helped it as well, but i am interested to see if she can continue to pull up these numbers or if they will drop off in a few fights.

No point in even debating it until the novelty of women fighting in the UFC has worn down.

Can't wait to see who she fights next. Guess they will wait till after the Tate fight to make a decision?

It's stupid headlines like this that make me dislike the rules here that you have to post the original headline as the the thread title. The title sayys: "Ronda Rousey is the Fifth Biggest PPV Draw in the UFC". What the article actually said: "if Rousey can continue her winning ways and keep defending her UFC strap successfully that she can easily become the UFC’s fifth biggest PPV draw". Quote:
