Sherdog.com recently confirmed the development with sources close to the situation, who verified that Mendes is still expected to compete at the April 20 event from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif., though the search for a new opponent has apparently not gone well.

Man this blows, I was really looking forward to this fight.

Edgar/Mendes is one of my dream fights for 2013, but TBH Id like to see Edgar get a win at FW before he starts fighting TOP contenders. And Im a huge Edgar fan.

If they made that matchup Id be super stoked dont get me wrong though. Mendes vs Lamas anyone? Both need a top FW to fight.

Reprieve for Guida as far as I'm concerned, this was a bad matchup for him and he wouldn't be able to pull his frantic, juke and jive BS to coerce a decision out of Mendes. Cutting down in weight doesn't elevate talent and skillset and Guida has plateaued on all levels....

Cub better hope that Edgar gets this fight, otherwise, buh bye win streak.
