Good thread, and it reminds me. I have a friend that is a very casual fan and doesn't really watch UFC or MMA that much but when I told him I was watching UFC at the time and asked if he knows about it, the only name that came to his head was Tito Ortiz |

I can agree with the article. Before I started to get into MMA, I heard of Tito Ortiz and knew what he looked like.

Now, I'm so mentally tramatized, by knowing what it is, that I'm afraid to read anything here.

Tito Ortiz was champion in the middle of the UFC's rise
when the UFC started escalating to becoming a known sport, Tito Ortiz was the poster boy
I remember it clearly cuz Boxing was on a tire then, Bhop vs Trinidad, Trinidad vs De la hoy etc etc and the one guy you would see in the middle of the boxing ads was Tito Ortiz, and hes really what got me into MMA that and Ken Shamrock, I hated him from the first time I heard him speak and wanted to see him lose..
first MMA Match I saw.. Ortiz/Mezger 2 hmm new thread idea.
