Competition for the UFC.

Is it just me or has there been a huge influx of legitimate mma organizations in the US recently.

Up to about a year ago there was really only the UFC & it's closest "competitor" was Rumble on The Rock & King Of The Cage.

Now we got more emphasis & better cards on promotions like Strikeforce, WEC, WFA, IFL etc. All of which have blown ROTR way down the pecking order of top draw promo's.

Can't help think that this is a good thing as I really do have a feeling Pride is going down the shitter.

I think the competition is good for the biz...It keeps the pool of fighters circulating and makes it a little easier to get noticed. I kind of hope PRIDE goes in the shitter, cuz then it would force all of these "PRIDE HW's would kick UFC's HW's any day" arguments to happen in some venue.

And, just for the record, PRIDE is way better

I don't really think Pride is going into the shitter yet. They still have alot going for them right now. They have the Bushido GP going on, the OWGP, the US Debut in October, and the NYE show left this year. The Fuji TV thing really hurts, but I think they can overcome it in the long run if everything goes right. I wouldn't be completely shocked if they folded, but it would definitely suck.

The problem as I see it with Pride is that with DSE's alledged involvment with the yakuza I can't see anyone else having anything to do with them.

Also with Fuji tv's links with skyperfect ppv, that's gonna be affected. The only way they can survive is if DSE sells Pride, but by the time this all comes out in the wash I can see there name fighters in the US at UFC or the others. If this is the case, I wouldn't bank on seeing the end of the OWGP or the Bushido tournaments.

It appears maybe that Rampage & Sakuraba left a sinking ship.

Critical Countdown was still a good show because Pride had a lot of big name talent already under contract before the scandals broke. What happens though a year from now when a lot of those fighters run up. It will be very interesting to see how many of the big name fighters that Pride will be able to keep under contract.

everything in Japan is involved with Yakuza. Fuji TV is probably involved with Yakuza as well.

The whole DSE/Fuji TV thing mostly had to do with DSE trying to sell Bushido rights to Fox Sports and other TV companies under Fuji TV's nose. Even Fuji TV reps said that it had nothing to do with Yakuza ties.

I'm not saying Pride is gonna be around forever. But you are a little too quick to bury them.

I would bank on seeing the end of the OWGP considering it's gonna be on September 10th. I don't see Pride folding that quickly.
