I'm hoping he comes away from the Silva fight with what he needs to work on. Obviously his ego was deflated.

Agreed all around...he just got delivered a huge dose of humble pie and seems to have learned from it.
I gotta give him some respect...he's decided to head back to the gym without his ego and has decided to toss the hype that was spoon-fed to him and get back to the basics and rely on training hard to prepare for his fights from now on.
If he forgets the trash talking and centers his focus on what's really important...then IMHO he has huge potential...because the guy is young and tough as hell, has some pretty solid skills already to build on, and has tons of heart.

So Leben vs Koscheck could happen althoght it would officially be there first meating. Did anybody else see Koscheck in the crowd after Leben got droped. He look very happy.

I think the worse thing that happened to Leben was that he started to buy into all the hype that was around him. That he was a grade A striker and that he could hang with the best at 185. But Silva proved to everyone what Leben really is, a 2nd tier fighter that got a lot of hype. I'm still kind of laughing at all the posts that said Leben could run with Franklin and Tanner. I think the Silva fight opened everyone's eyes that Leben still has a lot of work to do before he can step into the ring with Franklin. I also don't see Silva up there in Franklin's league either. He should have to fight Tanner to see who fights Franklin. And I don't see him beating Tanner. But back Leben, a fight with Koscheck again would be a big mistake for him because I believe Koscheck would win that fight. Right now he needs an easier match so that he can build his confidence back up.

Right now he needs an easier match so that he can build his confidence back up. | Leben is a brawler with some ground skills. He stands like a brawler, keeps his hands up like a brawler and swings like a brawler. Watching the Leben / Silva fight was like watching a boxer and thug in a street fight. Leben's pre-fight comments were a joke as he showed his opponent no respect before the fight. Its all well and good to show some respect after losing, but honestly, he had no other choice if he was going to try and repair his ego. I dont know who they'd match Leben up against now as both Koscheck and Swick are coming off wins. I think he's just going to sit on the side lines at least until late fall before he fights again.
p.s - I'd like to see Leben fight in Japan and then see which organization he tries to ridicule after that. Maybe something like "you know those winos on the corner, after I beat one of those maybe they'll go back down by the river."

i think one of the reasons leben gets a bad rap is because of the shit talking before fights, but what people don't understand is that he's told to say a lot of that crap. remember when quarry fought franklin? rogan was interviewing quarry and asked him about why he said franklin had a weak chin and quarry said something along the lines of "i dunno, they just told me to say that." UFC wants the fighters to look like they hate each other or are just utter badasses to hype fights so 90% of the shit talked is literally shit.
except of course in the case of shamrock and tito.

| swick vs leben not a good idea
Hey Matt i agree with you that leben vs koshcheck is a good idea, but a swick vs leben fight will not happen right now. swick won his last fight and is close to a title shot. a fight against leben would not help him at all.
