Those figures are probably about right, but you have to laugh to see Shamrock getting paid almost twice as much as the UFC HW champion!!!

I believe its because the fights went the distance or lack of aggression. The same thing happens in Kick boxing. You can be fined if you arent aggressive and dont actually do very much during the fight.

sponsors keep paying as long as the fighter is under contract. this isnt a typical 9-5 job though. they dont get company insurance. plus thats money out of zuffa. i think the fighters should just throw dana white in the cage one time to fight and then show him how the fighters feel afterwards. open up his eyes a bit

THEJIMY has a little shameless behaviour in the past

Default purses.`

well i have to say i am proud of this thread it has brought up some very valid points. Firstly i agree with taz on how stupid it was to give shamrock the worst coach in mma history a $10,000 BONUS FOR PLAYING pool. That really pissed me of and i really beleive that if Kalib was on tito's team he would have done exceptionally well and maybe won it. Also thos guys who are decent like josh neer who get paid under $10,000 really have no use and i gurantee if the purses were higher you would see better fighters.

I think it's interesting to see how much these atheletes are making.....we know in every other sport, so why not MMA.
I think in any industry, people have a pretty good idea of what people are making...

I just read through 3 pages of people complailning about dana white. A couple points. The fighters basically get paid their market value. Kinda like going to the grocery store and getting a steak. For 2 bucks you can get a cube steak or you can fork out the 15 bucks for a porterhouse. The UFC is a business. It happens to be a very lucrative business for the owners and partners. I work for one of the largest companies in the world the CEO has a base salary of over a million dollars a year and bonuses in excess of 2million. I don't bitch about 60 hour weeks or how much the company makes. I come in do my job and take my 50K a year. If I decide I don't like it anymore i go somewhere else. Every fighter has that same option.

That being said I would like to see more of the quality fighters and see Zuffa fork out the bucks to get them here. But as long as they are making money and running a profitable business i am not holding my breath waiting for that to happen. Anyone on this board that was in their shoes would be doing the same thing. And if they say they wouldn't they are lying.

ya it isnt that good paying unless ur at the top. in pride if when u get paid do u always get paid in japanese currency or do they transfer it to ur countrys currency, because what if their county's excange rate is horrible and they lose out on a ton of money.

wwe wrestlers and other professional athletes get paid way more, mma is probably the most u have to train for any professional sport, and is very hard consitering that u have to cover every aspect of mma. it would be nice to see them get some more cash.

thats bullshit about the shamrock pay, honestly nobody thought he had a chance and he got paid more then aa. i know that tito is very interesting and former champion and one of the most popular ufc fighters, but y does he get paid more then the current heavyweight or previous heavyweight champion?

i dont really get the 6 figure contract thing. did they just give him that money stright up or what? or does he fight a certain amount of fight and get paid a certain amount each fight or what?

i would like to see all of them guys get paid more, except for ortiz that is a pritty good paycheck for one fight. but like i said that is chump change compaired to other professional athletes. im beginning to wonder if i should still go after mma, since i would have to be at the top to get a lot of money.
