I don't see why everyone cares about this. How would you like it if everyone knew what you made?

I wouldn't give a shit personally, and I too find it interesting - especially when there's a story there. Like UFC makes 10 billion dollars off this show, which was drawn because of the fighters....and then they pay out a couple hundred grand in purse money. Lately they've been doing PPV percentage cuts to the main events, so I'm sure Shamrock-Ortiz made a ton of bread. Hopefully Arlovski/Sylvia got their fair share too.
The actual UFC 61 business info won't be out for a while. Few weeks probably. We'll have a PPV buyrate early estimate within a little bit, but that's just a gauge it changes a hundred times before the real number is released.

I agree with Matt. Knowing how much profit is made you want to know what the fighters get. I actually am good frineds with an wrester olympian who used to dominate one of the fighters who is in the ufc now but won't pursue it cause the money isnt good enough unless you are right AT THE TOP. Just another reason why im intersted. Im not gonna say who my buddy is cause i don't want to start shit

Count me in too.
Having met some of the guys that fight in mma events...the one consistant thing they all admit is the pay pretty much sucks unless you are fortunate enough to be one of MMA's chosen few top guys.
And they have all had to negotiate hard for what they got...and market themselves shrewdly any way they can constantly to get any resemblance of permanent financial security.
These guys that stay in it for the long haul and never get a title shot really have to seriously love what they do...because they and those close to them go through a lot of hard financial times just for what they give to the fans.
It is sure as hell not a career choice for the meek or timid...or undedicated whiner...and good management is a must if they ever want to succeed.
From that perspective..I am always curious to see what Zuffa, Pride, K-1, WFA, etc. pays these guys.
If anyone was to ever calculate the total earnings of the average MMA fighter against the total number of fights they have had (not even considering all of the costs and the expenses they have to pay for themselves)...I bet people would show them a lot more respect.
But that is info that the various fight organizations just don't want everyone to know...for very obvious reasons.

I used to think the same until I heard the Dana White interview on the CFZ radio show. If you haven't heard it it's archieved somewhere on the Radio sub-forum & what he says makes sense to a certain degree.

Yeah...I listened to Dana's official spin on the whole salary thing...but when the UFC make millions and a fighter goes in the octagon and gets injured while he gets the hell beat out of him for a few thousand bucks and has to eat a lot of personal expenses out of that...that just isn't right.
That's why a lot of good fighters fight elsewhere...because they make better money and get treated better.
And I wouldn't put too much value in what Dana says about money...he is paid to make money for Zuffa...not to give a damn about the fighters.
The few top tier guys do fairly well..but a lot of that comes out of endorsements and sponsors...not just from Zuffa.
But it's the new guys and mid-carders that always get pretty crappy pay and fight just as hard and get hurt just as much...sometimes even more.
BTW...I also think it was pretty damn disrespectful to the fighters when Dana gave that bum Ken Shamrock $10,000 in cash just to jerk Tito around in a pool game right in front of all of the guys in TUF 3....but that just shows you what an inconsiderate ass he can be sometimes.
Good grief...that's more money than most of those guys get paid for 5 or 6 fights...and it was damn rude to pull a stunt like that...and bring all of the fighters (especially including the losers) in and make them have to sit there and watch it all go into Ken's pocket...of all people.
Just what the hell exactly did Ken do for Dana on TUF 3 to deserve a freebie bonus of ten grand anyway?
(Something that probably involved chapstick and kneepads no doubt...lol)
Too bad one of them didn't mug Ken's old punch-drunk ass when he walked outside, take the cash and walk away laughing.
Now that would have been some good "reality" tv drama worth watching...lol

i think that if ufc started advertising the pay rate of their fighters and actually pay them well alot of fighters will leave japan and start fighting over here. isnt that the goal? and mma is supposed to be taking over boxing in revenue in the next few years. it would be damned appreciated to me to know where my money for the ppv and dvd sales are going. these guys deserve to be treated with class and i would like to know how much of my money is actually going to them instead of fattening up the zuffa company
