you should of seen how Yamasaki reffed the Wes Sims vs Daniel Gracie I fight at the Gracie vs HH event. Gracie was repeatedly illegally kneeing Sims when Sims was down, and Yamasaki acted as if it was legal and he didn't know the rules.

Shamrock got hit in the face with 6 HARD ass elbows in a row.... Herb stopped it before Ken got killed in there. Shamrock had the same suprised look when Sakuraba beat his ass in PRIDE.

i definitely think herb dean is a great ref, but even a great ref can mess up and he messed up on tito/ken II. he did an awesome stop on mir/sylvia, and i've never had a complaint for him until tito/ken II. personally i think it was a bogus call but i have enough faith in herb that he honestly felt that ken was in serious danger. i'm pretty sure any other ref would have let it go a little longer, but there's no point in arguing it anymore. dean's a great ref. it should be him, big john, and steve mazzagatti for all the fights. mario's a putz and i don't even know the name of that bald skinny prick.

I've seen 3 or 4 fights when I've thought Dean stopped the fight too early. However, when I see the replay he's bang on the money EVERY time.
The problem is if your "favorite" is on the receiving end it's hard to take. When AA went down against Sylvia (2nd fight) Herb had no option as Sylvia was wailing on him & all Arlivski did was block the punches with his chin!
My first thought on the Shamrock stoppage was too early, but after the replay it was a spot on decision. If Tito was left to continue he would have demolished Shamrock's eye socket & could have been blinded for life. Just to reiterate Shamrock has been doing mma for years. He knows he has to protect himself sensibly & if he doesn't the referee will.
He's a 42-year-old man & he behaved like a 10-year-old who just got grounded.
On a side note, the Yamasaki stoppage of Cabbage was also a good decision. Cabbage was getting butched like a stuck pig against Arlovski & if he hadn't got stopped then he may have been in some real serious problems.

The Tito/Shamrock stoppage was pretty good in my opinion. After watching the replay, it looks like Shamrock was Ko'ed by the second elbow. If you get a chance watch his hands on the following elbows, his arms and hands are stiff, the only reason there is any movement is because of the impact of the blows.
IMO, Shamrock was out, and when Herb came in and broke it up, he woke up. When Herb comes in, Ken begins grabbing at Herb, thinking he is Tito. This is just my opinion however, but it did look to me that Ken was knocked out, his muscles had stiffened, and he wasn't defending because he was out.
