| UFC Quick Quote: Rogan thinks MMA will eclipse NFL, soccer UFC Quick Quote: Rogan thinks MMA will eclipse NFL, soccer “[The UFC has] already eclipsed boxing in terms of pay-per-view dollars. The real question is can it eclipse football!? Can it eclipse soccer? I think the answer to that is yes. It’s a more exciting sport. The UFC has had problems in the past getting guys from overseas. There’s not just the UFC, there’s also Pride, a huge international organization that a lot of people believe has the best fighters in a couple of different weight classes. But now the UFC purchased Pride. We’re going to get to see incredible match-ups now that weren’t available just six months to a year ago.” – UFC ringside announcer Joe Rogan discusses the bright future of mixed martial arts now that the Fertitta brothers purchased PRIDE FC as told to the NYPost.com. Eclipse soccer? If he's talking in the US, they did that 6-7 years ago. lol. If he's talking worldwide, I'm sure all the "hooligans" are already into MMA.

Its rather easy to eclipse football because US is the only country that likes them. But MMA will NEVER surpass soccer. That is just total ignorance.

Well I can honestly say that me and about 10 of my buddies don't watch anything but MMA anymore. We were kidding around this past weekend because we don't even know who won the Superbowl..hehe.
MMA could be very huge, I think it can surpass a lot of sports, but I know soccer is just crazy worldwide...which as an American I never understood what they see in that game.

MMA is a sport that I see having very few/no borders in terms of race, age, nationality etc. It does seem like heresy that it could be more popular than soccer, but IMO it's not totally unrealistic.
I like these UFC quick quotes you throw in here, Noob.

Rogan is going off on one of his Mencia rants. MMA will grow, but will never eclipse the "major" sports in the US and other parts of the world. I personally don't want it to get too big. MMA needs a ground root start. More young people starting to train in MMA so that fans come into the arena MUCH more educated than the idiots we seen now at UFC events.

the Super Bowl get's an average of 40 million viewers, UFC or MMA will never see that. Hate to say it, American Idol get's higher ratings than MMA, the MMA world will never pass the main college sports either.

Rogan should check his numbers, almost all the PPV records are held by boxing events, chances are no MMA event this year will come close to whatever business Mayweather vs De La Hoya is about to do.

Nope im beting that will do about 1.3-2 million buys,
its going to be hard to get past football, i mean its going to have to put on great fights time in and time out. I dont think they will do it. Also they will have to run a weekly show maybe bi weekely like ufn but better fights so people catch on faster. but its going to take 2-5 years for it to happy on a yearly basis if it ever does

De La Hoya has a MASSIVE fanbase, remember. He is like the Will Smith of boxing.
