|  interesting story i have about matt hughes...
i realize that there some fans who aren't crazy about matt hughes, but personally i like the guy. anyways, a girl i work with told me a story that about 2 or 3 years ago, her and her fiancee were on a plane to vegas. they were seated right across from matt hughes and robbie lawler. not knowing who they were at the time, but they somehow struck up a conversation. anyway hughes offered to buy them both a few drinks and were just kicking back, getting drunk, and acting some fools, lol. but through the whole flight she mentioned that in spite of their on-screen personas, that they were two of the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet. i've never had a problem with matt hughes, but it kind of changed my perspective about him in the way that she was telling me the story. just thought i would post this for ya'll to read. feel free to express thoughts.

Interesting story, but not earth-shattering imo. Not a bombshell that will shatter people's perceptions, but maybe a good tale to tell over dinner.

2-3 years ago I really liked Hughes. It seems like his ego has been growing and growing and growing, so now he is what he is.

yeah i agree, 2-3 years ago i agree...but for now ill stick with my MMA Math

Good story.........2-3 years ago Matt was a great fighter, still is. I don't see the ego thing all of a sudden popping out. I think alot of people misconcieve his confidence for arrogance.
I personally like Matt alot, one of my fav. fighters.

Whether or not he's an arrogant person is difficult to say, as I don't think any of us knows him personally. But he has certainly done and said some things that would constitute as arrogant behavior.

I have actually met Matt many, many times since I grew up about 15 minutes away from him. He is very confident, and I'm sure that's what makes him such a great fighter. Everytime I have ever been around him he has bent over backwards to be nice to everyone. I'm sure there are several instances where he has acted a little dickish, but if people followed you around with cameras as much as they do him, they would catch you at some of your not so great moments as well. I know everyone won't agree with me on this, but as many times as I've met him he has never been anyway disrespectful or rude to anyone as far as I've seen, even when asked about previous opponents or fighters he knows or has met...  | |
