|  UFC 61 Medical Suspensions
The following are medical suspensions from the UFC 61 "Bitter Rivals" show on July 8th, according to the Nevada State Athletic Comission:
-Andrei Arlovski is suspended for 8-10 weeks
-Tim Sylvia is suspended until he is cleared by a doctor
-Ken Shamrock is suspended until August 8
-Josh Burkman is suspended for 6 months due to a nasal fracture and right big toe injury, unless a doctor clears him sooner
-Josh Neer is suspended for 8-10 weeks
-Dan Christison is suspended until August 8
-Yves Edwards is suspended for 8-10 weeks
-Gilbert Aldana is suspended for 6 months due to a laceration on his right eye, unless he gets cleared by a doctor sooner
-Kurt Pellegrino is suspended for 8-10 weeks
-Joe Jordan is suspended 8-10 weeks

Shamrock get a concussion? And damn, Burkman cant seem to win. But he probably wouldnt be fighting soon anyway. Nice to see that Monson made it through without any injuries.

Nevada State Athletic Commission medically suspends anyone so they don't risk fighting again too soon. Usually the suspension is lessned quite a bit when fighters go to doctors to get cleared, which either eliminates the suspension or cuts it back quite a bit in terms of how long they're suspended. It's really just a legal precautionary measure taken by the Athletic Commissions in the U.S.

I wonder what led Arlovski to get 8-10 weeks off? He didn't do anything in his fight to get hurt.   | |

I swelled to like four times its size. I believe it was from checking a kick early in the fight. I also believe he did not tell the doctor about the problem after the fight... if I remeber correctly.

I would think if he knee/leg were really messed up, he'd be sidelined for more than 2 months. | |

Aren't they waiting for an MRI? Maybe they will make it longer based on that test?
