Default Heath vs. Machida Was A Good Fight! (PBP and Video Link)

First off, anyone who hasn't tracked down a copy of this fight, you can watch some Asian telecast version here: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=ZJ1GDZ33

Alright, so the first round was mostly posturing up, which is probably why the crowd ended up booing so quickly throughout the rest of the fight. Machida was looking really fast and in his usual karate stance, while Heath holds his hands relatively low and seems like an alright boxer. Machida throws some body and head kicks which are mostly blocked, while Machida literally sidesteps and avoids almost everything Heath throws. Heath throws one good punch that Ryoto shrugs off around 2:00 remaining. At around 1:00 Heath throws a pretty crazy TKD back kick, falls, Machida rushes in to capitalize, and Heath quickly springs up and lands another punch.

Round two started somewhat like round one, but the tempo was noticeably increased and although both fighters looked tentative they were coming in and making quick exchanges. Machida throws a nice He head kick. He is standing right in front of Heath, who eventually throws another spinning kick but stays on his feet. Machida's striking looks very crisp. He continues to get the better of the exchanges and at one point lands a flying knee to ward off Heath. At the end of the round they get into a clinch, Machida drives Heath to the fence, and he throws a couple knees. Round over.

The third round starts with both fighters looking fresh. They are circling and exchanging shots but there is remarkably little movement at times, with both guys standing literally toe to toe. The crowd continues to boo. Machida lands a punch and a kick that both look painful. They exchange headkick attempts. Machida catches Heath in a clinch and unloads eight straight knees to the head, some of which were blocked and some which weren't , especially the last one which knocked Heath on his ass where Ryoto went right into some standing ground and pound. He is landing punches and elbows that are hurting Heath. He goes into the guard and continues to poster up and throw quick elbows and punches. The crowd does not give a flying fuck for ground fighting. They boo voraciously. He stands up and passes to side mount. He unloads some more punishment and then advances to full mount. Heath mongolian chops him from the bottom. Machida takes his back and goes for a choke right away. Heath tucks and avoids the choke. Machida flattens him out and makes a better attempt to get the choke but Heath slips out. The bell sounds. The crowd boos with rancour. Heath is bloodied and beaten, but he no longer has to withstand the Kara-Te. They show a highlight that reveals Machida landed 7-8 good kicks in the fight.

Judges Decision: 30-26, 30-27, 30-27 Unanimous Decision for Ryoto Machida.

P.S. I never would have started that Machida at MW thread if I had seen this fight. He was totally, TOTALLY ripped at 200.

It wasn't nearly as boring as people made out. I was there and it was actually terribly boring (until the end of the third of course) but that was because you couldn't dee a lot of the rapid strikes and slips Machida was executing. When I watched the video later I actually enjoyed it.

Ripped 200lb men can still very easily lose 15lbs of water. Frankly, people who think he can't cut to 185 know little or nothing about cutting.

I started a thread before but got no answer, maybe you know. Does Engladn release fighters pay? I was wondering what some of the guys made for this event.

Actually the answer was that you have never seen Cagerage pay and you don't think england has a commission. I just wanted to see if Crocop is really making 300gs, how much they payed Werdum for his debut, and how much did Gonzaga make for taking out a supposed 300g a fight fighter.

Even if they disclosed the fighter pays they are just the base pays which are mandatory to disclose to the commission (which either doesn't exist or doesn't care in London) and the top guys have shares of the PPV revenues guaranteed in their contract, which do not have to be disclosed. And then there are bonuses that some fighters get from the UFC for performance, which also aren't necessarily disclosed.
