everyone here knew about it for months but most of the viewers of espn arent ufc fans. this was a great marketing ploy but that means that this fight will have to live up to the expectations that the new guys will

ok i agree now that i am watching it agian GSP did give a good fight and it was quite good so strike one me for that one haha. as for professionalism they were but i just think GSP pussy footed around and sounded like he didn't think he could win agian. and matt hughes though a GREAT FIGHTER and one of my favs could have given the worst interviews ever 2 sentances and done. I am used to him talking shit and letting people know he will put the stomp on him there he didn't. but many valid points in the rebuttles

That was it?? I think it's safe to say that most of us already knew this was Hughes next fight, just didn't know when. It just stuck me as wierd, I may sound crazy, but as I was watching 2 things kept going through my mind:

1. There was supposed to be something announced in addition to Hughes/GSP, but either fell through or wasn't solidified in time.

2. ESPN is finally figuring out how big MMA is and wanted them on, so Dana being a smart businessman agreed to make 'a big announcement' and then basically made a fairly small one, espcially when you consider the Wandy/Liddell fight.

It almost seemed like he was taking a shot ESPN, in a subtle way, plus he surely doesn't want to piss off Spike.

It was great to see both Hughes and GSP get interviewed though, and I thought they represented the sport extremely well.
