good call, I'd pay to see him get his face smashed in. but he doesn't even deserve to fight CC or fedor, though. I still wanna see him fight JBL. Unless monson blows him out of the water, monson having the UFC belt just shows how weak the HW division really is.

I think Vera would have the size advantage, but Monson would still beat him on the ground. Vera's a strong guy but I'd say Monson's stronger and has the benefit of competing ( and winning ) in ground-fighting specific tournaments. Stand-up wise, I think Vera would have an advantage but Monson's pretty damn quick and his striking isn't to bad. I still reckon Monson would win, but anything can happen when it comes to fight time.

how do you figure that? monson has been invited to adcc from 1999 to 2005, winning at lhw in '99 and hw in '05. vera went to adcc once and lost... though to his credit, he'd been doing bjj for 7 months and got submitted by that year's lhw champ, jon olav einemo, while monson lost a controversial match to that year's hw champ, marcio cruz. a decision monson protested by removing his shorts and throwing them into the crowd.

Way before. I think it was his first fight for Pride at a Bushido event.

i think the height is ganna be a big part in it..i want monson to win..i hate sylvia..i can see monson going for a takedown and eating jabs but im hoping he can submit sylvia

Sorry i wasn't trying to be bitchy, I just find it annoying to read things which don't flow too well and I usually only come on late at night so my eyes are mashed by then lol.

Agreed Sylvia doesn't get enough respect, however at the same time he is not at the level where he should be a heavyweight champion. Monson is very capable of beating him and like was said before he also should not be champion.

Now I'm not hugely into the heavyweight division and will admit some UFC bias in most regards however I feel that neither Sylvia or Monson would be regarded as a top contender in PRIDE at present, however every fighter constantly improves and Monson winning the belt or Sylvia retaining may see either become unstoppable.
