I think you are right on about swick. Marquardt, terrell, tanner etc would all be good fights that i think penn has the skill to win but could lose because of the strength difference. But don't forget he is the prodigy. Ace is the only one that i think def beats him and possibly could get pretty ugly.

I think he would get bored at LW. I am also not sure he would want to cut the weight for every fight.

Im thinking it will be Sherk vs. Pulver, and Hominick vs. Stevenson for the #1 contender. Florian is and always has been crap...he was already training for like 6 straight months...why couldn't he just keep training? what a tool! who knows if they'll ever give him another shot again...

That's a fair comment about Hominick, but hasn't he lost since his fight with Edwards?

The problem is their's so much talent in this division that I just want to see a title fight already.

Pulver Vs Bang Ludwig would have been cool, but it looks like Bang's out of the UFC so anyone really. Just get it done!!!

Jens Is The Lightweight Champ In My Book Untill Someone Beats Him In The Cage. When He Became Lightweight Champ He Fought Everyone, Including Bj Penn And Beat Everyone. Jens Should Fight The Winner Of All The Other Lightweights. He Has Earned That Much. Don't Count Yves Edwards Out Yet, He Has Had A Couple Of Tuff Brakes. He Is An Exciting Fighter To Watch, Almost As Exciting As Jens Little Evil Pulver Ufc Light Weight Champion. Mmanut And Fan.

Yeah he lost to Shooto vet Hatsu Hioki, who is a pretty good fighter in his own right. I like Hominick but agree he isn't worthy of a title shot just yet.

Since the loss to Hominick, Edwords hasn't been the same, I missed the loss
to Stevenson that was the only match I missed at ufc 61 what happened.

Out of curiosity, where did everyone hear the info about Florian?

I just haven't seen nor read anything about him passing on his chance to fight for the LW title until now.

Joe stevenson cut him up something fierce with some vicious elbows. he still wanted to fight but there was blood EVERYWHERE and the doctors made the right call and stopped the fight. It was a good showing from him otherwise.

He's only had 2 fights since the Hominick loss. One was a win vs Seichi Ikemoto, who is a Shooto and DEEP vet that is tougher than his record would indicate. The other fight being his loss vs Stevenson

The Stevenson fight was pretty fun to watch. Yves came out pretty good landing some nice strikes, worked some GnP on Stevenson. Stevenson later got a couple of takedowns and Yves worked some submission attempts from the bottom.

Then in the 2nd round Stevenson got a take down and landed some brutal elbows which busted Edwards open spilling tons of blood over that side of the octagon. The cut eventually led to the stoppage.

I originally read it on MMAWeekly.com. Here's a post at the UG from Florian himself........

First let me say, it saddens me that I don't get a chance to come on here that often anymore. I hear the discussions have definitely evolved over the years and there is no longer trash talk or conspiracy theories about the major MMA organizations or fighters. I also hear there are a tremendous amount of UFC and fighter insiders here. The respect here for fighters that put there lives on the line and train so hard for all of us when they fight is also amazing. I was on this forum when it first started and I feel bad that one of my last posts here has to be this one but here it goes . . .
Well, it looks like I screwed up. I lost my chance at a title because I was scared to fight Sherk. I apologize to Sherk for being scared but I have to be honest with myself. Like you guys, I am very impressed with Sherk's physique and I am pretty scared about what Sherk supporters have been saying. When I was talking to Sherk's guys the other day (they personally handle my fight decisions with the UFC) they were telling me how quickly Sherk will destroy me. I gotta admit, I was scared and I had to come up with some excuses to not fight him. I told the UFC I could not fight and now, not only am I out of the title shot, but I probably can't fight at all in the UFC anymore. I have to apologize to the good fans of this sport and hopefully, I will find my competitive spirit again. To the real fighters out there like Nick Thompson (aka, kidpresentable) I admire your courage and hope to one day follow in your mighty footsteps.

I guess it is back to the minor leagues for now. I will work hard and find my way back in the UFC. I just did not want my record to be tarnished. I care about my record too much. I do not like challenges and I really just do this to have a good record, look semi-cool and have something to brag to the chicks about. Quite frankly, I never really had any type of passion for doing this and I never took any risks in my life to do what I am doing now. I am hoping I will find the strength and skills to come back and fight in the UFC and not be afraid to fight a guy like Sherk.

I am going to go watch some John Wayne movies and subscribe to Muscle & Fitness in an attempt to get more courage and possibly get some more fans. What guys don't like John Wayne and muscles right??!! I want to thank the best MMA organization in the world, the UFC for all they have done for the sport and hopefully, I can come back and fight for them again one day. I thank you all for the support and good training to all of you.
