| Would UFC fill large venues in the States?
I mean something equivalent to what Pride is able to do in Japan? 40K or so. Even if not, how many consecutive sell-outs does the UFC need before they book a larger venue? Or is the viewing distance an issue? Even if I had to watch a jumbotron, I would attend an event and sit in the nosebleed seats assuming the price was low enough.

I would have to be a huge card with huge names.
I think in order to pull 30 to 35 thousands in the stands, you'd have to steer storylines, marketing production, and even have rats all over the message boards. (kind of like wrestling). I'd love to see UFC be able to pull it off, but not at the cost of the integrity of its product or fighters.

right now in NA i would say they aren't going to get more then 25-30k people at and event. and even that is alot 30k.
40 or 50 is still more than they could hope for. i don't think its a matter of viewing. its just a matter of being able to put together an event in an area that they can get that type of turnout.

Chuck v Tito 3 (Don't care if it makes sense, Tito is a huge draw)
Randy v AA
Hughes v GSP 3
Los Angeles not Vegas.
Would draw 50k easy.

Yeah they can do it but like most have said, it will need to be a stacked card with several main eventers fighting eachother. I think we may see something really huge for the so called "supershow"

I'm saying the mystical "Supershow" could easily draw 45k if they promote the Pride fighters enough.
The midwest has done extremely well with their PPV events, selling out close to 20k stadiums with only decent cards. If UFC went into constructing a PPV with the intent of it being the biggest single PPV we've ever seen, I think they'd easily sell out a 45k arena.

The thing they need to think about though, is the cost of tickets. IF they can make $250 tickets in a 5k seat arena's why go to huge stadiums just to get more people there while offering $15 nose bleeds.
They need to control supply and demand so smaller venues, drive up demand, thus driving up ticket prices. They may feel that higher ticket prices is better than more ticket sales.

Madison Square Garden is not a large capacity arena suprisingly. I have been there many times, it is your normal hockey/BB setup of around 20k.
Actual stats for MSG:
What is the seating capacity of Madison Square Garden?
For basketball events in the Arena, the seating capacity is 19,763 and for hockey events in the Arena, the seating capacity is 18,200. For all other events, seating capacity changes depending on the set-up of the event. For events in the Theater, the seating capacity is 5,600.
