| UFC 71, do you all honestly understand the magnitude of this event
This is the biggest event in UFC history nar none.
ESPN has been covering UFC 71 all week so people are going to be tunned in. I would venture to say that this PPV will break all previous UFC PPV records with both Live Gate and PPV buys.
I wonder if the fighters realize just how much pressure is on them to perform tonight because since there are going to be som many viewers and ESPN is covering UFC (MMA) now, it is up to these fighters to put on a phenomenal show and get these first time PPV buyers/viewrs to become regular customers.
I strongly believe that UFC 71 will mark a new era in MMA as long as the fighters perform to their abilities, namely the main and co main event.

Yeah it's pretty damn big. On Sportscenter, ESPNews, ESPN.com, the cover of SI and ESPN Magazine. MMA is blowing up on a mega level. Let's all sit back and enjoy the ride.

Yeah I had no idea ESPN was going to turn it into a lead story. I'll re-adjust my PPV buy prediction to around 1 million.

It's huge on many levels.
From the public visibility level, probably none higher than this fight.
Although I still don't think it'll out-PPV or out-gate Tito-Chuck II due to the name recognition of Tito in the US and the extent to which he's a polarizing figure (plus UFC 66 was a better overall card than this one - it was one of the UFC's strongest to this point).
But the SI and ESPN visibility has been huge.
But certainly from a hardcore MMA fan perspective - I said it way back when this fight was first announced: this is going to be one of the seminal, one of the most defining fights ever in MMA. I compare it to Hughes-Penn II or GSP-Hughes II in terms of how much was at stake - not only a title but everything else but the title.
It's a watershed moment for the sport and it's a fork in the road for its fans - i.e. now you choose a side...which side do you choose and why.

Chuck Liddell really has worked wonders for the UFC, I dont doubt that if he wasnt on this card then none of this coverage would be happening

Well, there is definitely one person that realizes the magnitude of this. Dana White. Love him or hate him, he's really put in work to get the company where it needs to be. And, he is expected to announce two, if not three, fighters who are great challengers for the belt in Hendo, Shogun, and possibly Wand. Now, like you guys have said, hopefully they all perform well tonight.
