I've never done Fantasy MMA before. Can we get a quick explaination of who will be available in the draft?

rules are this

for now, points are scored like this

we each pick at least two fighters in each weight class (active fighters only, if their not fighting, they can't earn you points

win 5 points
ko 4 more
sub 3 more
tko 2 more
decision 1 more

we have 16 right now, so we can have two leagues or one

look for fighters fighting between now and Jan first (if theres a fight card then, it will be the following day or two) or they can't earn you points

trades can happen whenever we want, but you can't pick new fighters until the draft

people with the lowest points get the first picks at draft, point leaders get bragging rights

I'll pick who picks in what order at random, to be fair, I'll pick last

we can add or take away rules at draft time (such as introducing negative points for getting sub'd, ko'd, etc)

after points are earned first, we can bet points on fights

example, if we already had points (I have 10, you have 20), we can bet 10 points or so on who would win an upcoming fight

after awhile, we'll add more rules, as we want them or vote on them (say -10 points for your fighter missing weight, failed drug screen, etc

and active fighter is available, you can pick ken shamrock, but if they aren't fighting, they can't earn you points. UFC, SF, Bamma, Bellator, whoever

it might be easier with 2 leagues (with 16) because the people playing, the fewer fighters to go around.

we dictate the rules, such as this

when we get everyone in, we will vote on one thing

either we can pick any active fighter, or no one (in the same league) can use the same fighter, but we can trade our picks as well

you can trade fighters for points you have, your position in draft picks, etc

all we have to do is vote on if we pick whoever, or no fighter can be used twice in the same league

I also have an idea for a DF (designated fighter) like the DH rule in baseball

in case a fighter gets hurt, you can substitute you DF to earn you points, but only if the one of your fighters can't fight, due to any reason other then missed weight, or substance abuse

your picks cant change without a trade, and you DF is locked in place until draft

but your DF can be any active fighter, and we could all have the same DF, doesn't matter

invite whoever you want, and we'll try and get picks going early next week

so plan on getting at least 2 fighters in mind by say wednesday, and a few back ups in case your picks are selected.

remember, if they are not fighting in any pro league by Jan first (or the first draft trade date we agree on) they can't earn you any points


the strategy is to get a lot of points before trade/draft time, so you can pretty much make anyone an offer they can't refuse

plus you want to think long term

Pettis and Guida (for example) fight with more frequency then Silva, and could then get you more points

its all about scoring points, not having P4P champs

go for guys that get a lot of KO's and Sub's, as they will get you more points
