Boxing + Muay thai is the best way to go...
Muay Thai has it all, but you get real hands from boxing...

Boxing has a lot more genetics involved then Muay Thai IMO.
The ability to use elbow strikes, kicks, and knee's effectively counter acts the natural athleticism required for boxing.
