i think Aleks is more well rounded and larger. better hand speed, although Kongo is probably the better technical striker.
this is a very solid matchup, IMO, and would better determine Kongo's place in the division with Aleks, who has been performing well in his last couple of fights.

Alex would win by sub. I can't see Aleks out striking Kongo, but his ground game is 10 times better.

Aleks can win wherever the fight goes but its razor close on the feet, distant on the ground

I think that Kongo would be prepared for the fight and would knock ALeks out cold in the second. Aleks in the past has lost focus and hasn't made the best decision as to where a fight would take place. I see him trying to stand with Kongo and being beaten badly. Within a year Kongo will be the best HW in the UFC

He's WAY too 1 dimentional at this point to ever be considered the best and a year is most definatly not enough time to develop a satisfactory enough ground game to be considered a well rounded fighter. Not to mention I'm fairly sure class is going to be in session for him up against Nog pretty soon here.
Also, as said before, Alex wins this fight wherever he chooses. But it's blatantly obvious that he'd be wise to take it to the ground, which at this level of competition is probably everybody's game plan against Kongo... Too bad for Cheick that there's almost nothing he can do about it if somebody tries to take him down.

There have been dramatic improvement in Kongo's ground game already. I realize that CroCop isn't Nog on the ground but Kongo didn't look lost there either as he did in earlier fights. If he continues to train in Big Bear with Rampage he will learn more takedown defense and will continue to improve. By years end Kongo will be fine. Liddell was never great on the ground but he could get up and keep from getting taken down. If Kongo can get to that point then his standup is better then anyone that the UFC has to offer on the feet. As for Aleks, he is good on his feet but size with Kongo will be the deciding factor there. I know that he beat Colossus on his feet but Colossus isn't Kongo.
I think that there is a chance that he gets beaten by Nog, but remember Nog can get caught as seen against Herring and I think that Kongo is more dangerous then Heath.

alex would tko kongo...
i do agree that "technically" kongo is hte better striker but alex has alot better footwork and head movement imo...and is also faster...alex can and imo would hurt kongo on the feet....but as said before alex can take it down and subb him...
alex by watever...

These two are true challenges to each other....Kongo would test Aleks stand-up and Aleks would test Kongo's ground.
Whichever place it ends up i see the person who is better there winning....Aleks on the ground Kongo on the feet. Kongo I THINK has longer reach than Aleks
