when it was a viable fight, i would have bet on Sakuraba because Bas never had good takedown defense because his knees were shot, and he never had a guard crafty enough to catch someone like Sakuraba

but it could be bias speaking

Half ass Boxers get 22 wins against cans as well. Not saying Bas is great but he never had a great ground game or take down D. He has excelent striking and is generally well rounded.

Saku on the other hand is the greatest Japanese fighter ever and probably has the best ground game ever. Not to mention his standup is decent and he has some power.

I think Saku would immediately take the fight to the ground and systematically break bas down.
