| Hermes Franca vs. Matt Serra
Both throw heavy punches and both have very good ground games. I think this would make for a very interesting matchup. I hope that after a couple more fights at WW, Serra will move back down to LW, because that's where the more interesting matchups for him are in my opinion.

Serra takes this imo.
He has better striking and a better chin. Hermes will stand an trade if you don't take it down and i think Serra would put him out.

This would be on that worst fights in MMA history poll that we were posting on the other day. Watching this would be like watching paint dry. Both guys trying to roll the other over. I'd much rather see Hughes vs Serra, Sanchez vs Serra, Koscheck vs Serra, Alves vs Serra, ooh, BJ Penn vs Serra. I just think Franca-Serra has lay and pray written all over it.

I find it funny that you say fights you would rather see, and in those fights you include to people who are regarded as lay n pray fighters. Serra and Hermes are always active on the ground (Hermes goes for non-stop submissions) and unless you think that BJJ wars are like "watching paint dry" then you don't know anything about either fighter.
Franca could probably win the first round on the feet but I see Serra taking it with his size, ground game, and cardio. Decision

Are you sure you know who were talking about here, because to think that this fight would be a boring fight is ridiculous! Both of these fighters are very exciting. They both pack some heavy punches and swing for the fences and they both have very active ground games. This fight wouldn't be boring. It wouldn't be anywhere close to boring.

This would be one of the best LW matchups in the UFC right now, how can anyone even think about calling this fight bad or boring on paper?
Stylistically theres pretty much no chance of this fight being anything short of amazing.

I hope Serra moves his tubby ass back down. Serra vs. Almost anyone in the lightweight division would be great. Diaz, Guida, Huerta, Sherk, Franca, etc.
I figure Serra would take this. Franca's wild punching would eventually catch up with'em.

I think their BJJ skills are about even and neither would be able to advance on the other. That's why I think it would be a lay and pray, 3 round fight.
