This would be a good meeting of 2 similar styles. Both strong fast guys, both have great ground and pound as well as conditioning for days.

I think this would be a good matchup, and I can't see any outcome other than a decision (likely split).

Thoughts?

Sean Sherk doesn't have conditioning for days.He's gassed before in fights.I think Sherk wins a UD(especially if it's a 3 round fight).Size difference or not he's a better wrestler and a better fighter and he's probably stronger.It'd be interesting to see Diego fight off his back.

both guys are good . but can deigo take a good ground beating. but I would have 2 go 4 deigo on a decision. I cant c him ko or tap him out .

but his standup is atrocious, and he has never shown any game off his back, which he'll be spending a lot of time on if he fought a wrestler as tough as Sherk.

so unless Diego gets some real work off his back, he would lose a decision

Sherk has conditioning like a motherfucker. it doesnt meant two shits that he's gassed before if he went 5 rounds at a constant pace, while bleeding like a gunshot victim. call it lay n pray, but its hard to fight for 5 rounds, let alone while trying to pass guard and inflict punishment

Shhheet I will take Diego in this one. He is a good wrestler and is too big for Sherk so Sherk would get controlled.

It would be a good match but I see Diego taking this wrestling match by riding time .

I don't think Diego fighting from his back would be a really big issue. I could see lots of positional changes between Diego and Sherk, not totally unlike Diego/Diaz. Though I don't give Sherk the same ability to manipulate his body from the bottom to change position that Diaz has.

There's just so much combined power between the 2, that I could see ground position changing constantly between them. A little bit of momentum and movement from the guy on top could be used by an equally strong guy on the bottom to shift the top person's weight around.

I can see Diego winning this fight by cutting open Sherk above the eye, but I see Sherk winning by a decision (if it goes to that) in a 3 round or 5 round fight.

Sherk hung with Matt Hughes for 5 rounds, I'm not sure where anyone gets off saying Sherk doesn't have the conditioning to go 5 rounds with Diego.

If anyone watched the Kenny Florian vs Sean Sherk match then you can come to the conclusion that Sherk really didn't do all that much damage to Florian. Sherk has a good ground and pound game, but how effective is it? Florian used one elbow and Sherk was a mess. Florian has more skills on his back then Diego, but they both are hard to pound. Sherk had a little trouble trying to pound Florian, but he did land some shots. It was a good fight, but we all know that Florian will never be as strong a Sherk and never as strong a Diego. Diego has more strength then Florian and I think he will be able to control alot of the takes downs by Sherk. Granted Diego is not a guy who likes to fight on his back, but I truelly think that he will defeat Sherk if they fought. They are both fast, good wrestlers, and smart, but I see Diego getting the win via chock out.
