I think Barnett can take anyone aside from Fedor and Big Nog. He's got a good blend of size, skills, and experience. | Barnett will beat Mir, is very possible, but Barnett of today will destroy Big Nog of today, brazilian does not impress me for years now, the guy most of time loses rounds, gets knoked down, but gets submission for exemple against silvia, but who cares, it is not imressive anymore, i better will watch his two losses against fedor than his fights of today. now, he is slow gets outsriken by almost every tough guy in hw, and u he will beat a guy like barnett who is still in top of his game? No.
Barnett can put a good fight against Fedor and the fight would possibly considered in history as fedor vs crocop or fedor vs big nog, but barnett is afraid of fedor, and he tries to be too close of a friend to fedor, so he will possibly not fight him, it is disapointing for funs.

Barnett would dismantle Mir. Barnett has the standup to finish Mir as well as the ability to keep himself from being subbed on the ground. Barnett evaded Minotauro's subs and even though Mir defeated Minotauro cleanly he won what I think of as a "kick-boxing" match. Mir feared the ground game of Nog so won a standup war. Barnett would tool Mir on the feet he's a technician.

Barnett is probably hands down the most overrated fighter in MMA. Honestly who has the guy beaten? He beat Couture when he was roided and he beat Big Nog (probably also when he was roiding) by a horrible dec. Other then that his career has been made by beating guys outside of the Top 20. Usaully when he fights guys in the Top 10 he gets destoryed or dominated.
But all that being said, you know what Barnett is going to bring to the table, mean while Mir is the most hot and cold fighter over probably the last 5 years there is. When Mir is in shape and focused he is the most dangrous HW not named Fedor. When Mir is not in shape or focused he is not even Top 20 maybe top 50.
However, Mir in his last 3 fights has shown he is in shape and focused, so I will take Mir via sub early in the first.

Plus, saying he was on roids when he beat Nogs is pure speculation. Also back in the day, he beat both Semmy Schilt and Dan Severn, who were both high up on the hw rankings at the time as well. He is 24-5, with 3 losses to Mirko, 1 to Nogs and 1 to Rizzo (back when Rizzo was a top 5 hw and the most feared striker at the time). They're no slouches at all and he lost to all when they were basically at their best. To me, that's a great resume! Quote:

Even when Barnett is off, he does pretty well (even though some would say otherwise). I am a bigger fan of Mir and am not that fond of Barnett but Barnett is just the better fighter all around. He beats Mir 8-9 times out of 10 imo.

He's definately good, but I'm not sure hes the #2 HW in the world as everyone seems to think. If Mir can find some consistency in his career, I think him and Barnett could put on a great show. Its not like Mir has been fighting slouches either, he's stopped Tim Sylvia, Big Nog, and Brock Lesnar, as I'm sure everyone already knows.

barnett, easily. better striker, better wrestler, much more physically stronger in my opinion, and knows every submission in the book, including the catch ones that bjj ignores. i think he'll take mir to school.
while we're on the topic, i see barnett over lesnar by some kinda leglock.

I think barnett takes this too but Mir's stand up against Nog leads me to believe his stand up is on par if not has the slight edge over Barnett. I think this fight would be closer than alot of people think it would be be with their great submission backgroundsWatching this fight would be a treat at least on paper just to see the sweeps and transitions would be an awesome. This would be a great fight to see
i would have barnett over lesnar in the hw rankings even if lesnar beats Mir if mir beats lesnar he's still below Barnett as well Barnett has been more consistant over his career and unless he loses to someone beneath him in rankings i keep barnett at 2 behind Fedor

I also don't think people should call Big Nog over the hill just yet. While he looked bad against both Herring and Mir, both fights went very badly for him. He was clearly beating Herring but got caught with a huge head kick, and still managed to outbox him for the remainder of the fight which in my mind is a huge accomplishment. Against Mir, alot of people don't see his boxing against Nogueira as a big deal, but I think it spoke volumes. He used pretty creative combinations (he landed what I believe was a jab-cross-semi over and over, in practice its not the easiest combo to use), and looked to have excellent timing as well.

I don't really like Bartnett that much either. Mir is just cool. Mir stand-up is improving each fight. Bartnett is a better wrestler. I feel Bartnett might when third round tko. Mir gasses out.
