Default Shane Carwin vs. Cain Valesquez

Alright, probably two of the top five HWs in the UFC right about now and two fighters grappling for a future title shot. Both of these men have upset more their more established foes in Gonzaga and Kongo and given the almost certain matchup these fighters may have with each other in the future, here goes the question....

WHO YA GOT???

I've gotta go with Carwin. I don't know if Cain can roll with his wrestling like he did against Kongo. If he can't Carwin by ko from in the guard.

I'm pretty sure that Carwin hits harder than Kongo and has better wrestling than him as well.

Cain's likely better at wrestling than Shane, but who's got the better chin? Both have been in precarious situations following hard shots and have come back strong.

A toss up for me, though I could see Carwin losing on points but scoring a KO at some point. I don't see Cain stopping him, though a decision win seems possible.

Either way, I really hope these two fight each other soon.

this would be an excellent fight. however, i think carwin would win this in the first round by t.k.o. cain wouldn't be able to take him down in my eyes, and carwin would just come straight forward to brawl, i think cain would engage and get dropped like a bad habit.

I voted for Cain, although, I don't think he would beat Carwin if they were to fight right now but I think he would definitely beat Carwin with a couple more fights under him, he's still getting better IMO

Cain showed that he has great recovery in the Kongo fight, even though Carwin probably punches harder, I think Cain would be able to take it. We also saw how GG was able to take the fight to Carwin by being aggressive and going after him, I thought GG was doing great until he got hit with that punch. Like GG, Cain does have a great all around mma game and in time I think he will be even better, I'm not trying to do mma math but based on what I have seen, I think Cain will be able to take the shots and probably take the fight to Carwin just like how GG was able to do

Don't worry you're not doing MMA math at all. You are looking at fighter's styles and how they match up against the opponent, which is how people should be breaking it down... so good job.

MMA math is
since fighter A beat fighter B, and
since fighter B beat fighter C, then
fighter A will beat fighter C

Example:
since Wanderlei beat Rampage, and
since Rampage beat Chuck, then
Wanderlei will beat Chuck

but as you know that above deductive reasoning didn't pan out that way.

I got Carwin by KO, I mean damn, Kongo almost KO'd Velasquez (no disrespect to Kongo), but I think Carwin hits way harder. He's too big and strong for Cain to muscle around, and he's a pretty good wrestler. The only way I see Velasquez winning is to dance around and pick him apart from the outside, maybe he could get a UD that way. I just don't see it though. Cain is very agressive, he wants to finish fights early, which is great but this time it will cost him.
